Think back to 2000, and abundance of great tunes... Remember "Learning to Fly"? Thought So! Read on for a review of a new updated release!
Learning to Fly
The tune was originally released in 2000 and had huge airplay on national radios, with support mainly from Judge Jules. Remixes came from Mike Koglin & Ferry Corsten under his "Moonman" guise to name a couple. The original is a classic trancer and there isn't a lot more I can say as this track will be known to nearly everyone in some form. I guess the best thing I can say is that you can now own the original again!
Learning to Fly (Will Hollands 2004 Remix)
When remixes of classics come out, an awful lot of scepticism greets them, usually as they are seen as being inferior to the original release or just a 'money grabbing' affair. With this in mind, Will has produced a deliciously seductive remix, sure to please even the biggest of doubters that this remix stands alongside the older ones and doesn't look bad in comparison. The delicacy of the lead is sublime here, soft and the long drawn out female vocal sounds just as good here as it does on the older releases. Overall the structure of the song may be a bit more like a 2004 track, but the general ambience and feelings I get reminds me of the good old days. An unusually strong remake that will stand stronger than remakes of tracks like synaesthesia or blue fear or point zero in my opinion - 9/10
Conclusion:
As I mentioned before, it's hard to bring a fresh sound to an old track, but Will has done it in this case in great fashion. With support from national radio already, this is sure to be worth owning!
