After an intense summer of touring which saw Gareth take in seven different countries in a two-month period for live sets and Five AM Records tour nights (in case you are wondering, they were United Arab Emirates, Australia, France, Holland, Switzerland, Canada, and the USA), he spent the last two months solidly locked in the studio working on new material. So whats coming up? Read on..
UK superclub frenzy including Godskitchen with Paul van Dyk
Gareth will be playing the UK four best superclubs before the end of the year. This Friday (22nd October), he'll be at Godskitchen, where he was chosen from all their regular guests to warm up for arguably the worlds no.1 trance DJ, Paul van Dyk. He can also be seen at The Gallery (5th November and Christmas Eve), Slinky (19th November) and Passion (11th December). Speaking of Slinky, you can check out the much-demanded GTR classic Flood Control (originally released in 2002) on their latest album which is out this week: Slinky Trans-Atlantik.
Blues goes digital: a new project by Gareth Emery
Digital Blues is a new alias by Gareth signed to Lange Recordings with a debut release of two somewhat unique and very different tracks. The a-side, the self-titled Digital Blues, is an incredibly catchy late-night trancer where Gareth gives a fleeting nod to his jazz / blues background with an electro riff loosely based on the blues scale. Already played three times by Judge Jules on Radio 1, it's one of those tracks that's simply impossible to get out of your head once you've heard it. The b-side, Definition, couldn't be more different. It's a laid-back slice of chilled progressive where panpipes, atmospheric textures, and a subtle riff combine to create a nine-minute journey of pure mood music.
Sweet dreams: Gareth Emery remixes Nu-NRG
Ah, a classic revisited, but one that was well worth it. Gareth has teamed up with Monster Tunes boss Brisky to deliver a long-overdue remix of the Paul van Dyk anthem Dreamland. The new Gareth Emery vs Brisky remix stays 100% faithful to the original but places it within the context of a modern, hi-energy production. No doubt a remix that will be an end-of-night favourite in the coming months, it's due for release on Monster Tunes in early 2005.
And even more to come..
Gareth spent the last weekend in the studio with his good friends and occasional production partners CERN. Over the past few years, they've remixed each other's tracks (Gareth mixed CERN's debut single aileys whilst CERN recently took on Gareth and Jon O'Bir - Escapade) and worked together on CERN's hit The Message so it was only a matter of time before they finally managed to co-ordinate their diaries to produce a track together. We've heard samples of this currently untitled production, and let us just say, it's big! As we reported in the last update, Gareth also recently spent a week in the studio with Solid Globe. Both Gareth and SG are now working on their respective mixes and you'll get more info on this as soon as we have it.
