CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE 'UN-HOOKED : THE HOOK SESSIONS'
(System Recordings, November 16th)
"America's favorite trance DJ" [URB Magazine] CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE releases ten classic gems from the catalog of Hook Recordings for his second artist album to date, following the success of his recent debut 'All or Nothing'.
'UN-HOOKED: THE HOOK SESSIONS' represents some of the finest moments spanning Christopher's fruitful, but sometimes tumultuous recording career with Hook and seminal trance/techno co-producer Chris Cowie. The album bristles with energy and passion from the onset, serving up enough melody and nuance to captivate even the most discerning listener. Christopher's production skills continue to unfold with progressive trance anthems like "Shredder", and "Cruise Control", alongside down tempo gems such as "Filmer", displaying the versatility of his work in the studio.
HOOK RECORDINGS, an independent record label established in 1993 by seminal Scottish DJ/producer Chris Cowie, grew into one of the leading purveyors of electronic music labels specializing in trance and the up-tempo progressive realm. The label released over 200 records with such artists as Taylor, Sandra Collins, X-Cabs, Joshua Ryan, Fred Numf, Transa and Christopher Lawrence and these tracks went on to be supported by the world's top DJs,including Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyk.
From his auspicious beginnings at Hook Recordings, Christopher went on to release numerous chart-topping singles and a slew of highly acclaimed mix CDs. He has gone on to earn the "Best DJ" award at the Dancestar Awards in 2002, and last year was voted #5 in BPM Magazine's "America's Favorite DJ" poll for 2004 and #35 in DJ Magazine's "Top 100" international DJs list in 2003. He has headlined the US tours for Ministry Of Sound, Cream and Gatecrasher.
Coming this November 2004, Christopher Lawrence (#5) & DJ Dan (#3) - the two top ranked US DJs as voted by the American public - are joining forces with BPM Magazine for the "America's Favorite Tour" in select cities across the US.
