Now, let's get on with the questions...

i:Vibes: Hiya Paul, how are you doing?

A: Good thank you :)

i:Vibes: 10 years ago you made a tune that has stood up to the test of time and become a much loved tune. How do you feel about this doing so well?

A: I`m obviously really happy that Metamorphosis has stood the test of time. We never released it in the UK because it was rejected by the distributors. At that time trance wasn`t what it is now. In Europe it did do really well however. Sadly we never actually got paid for the sales of the original, we found this out a couple of years ago when purely by chance a former employee of Nitric told us the track had had multiple represses.

i:Vibes: What do you think to the remixes that have just come out?

A: We`re really happy with the remixes. John (Selway) has done a superb job. I`m hoping that UK dancefloors will accept it. Its a great piece of music. It was very difficult to remix a record that so many people in Europe regard as a classic, so rather than rehash the theme, everyone was asked to produce something that paid homage to the original without detracting from the original. I think thats been achieved. We included the original for mainly the UK punters, who hadn`t been exposed to the track.

i:Vibes: People around the world have classed you as a first rate techno dj. How does that make you feel?

A: I`m humbled really. I just play music that appeals, currently I am on an acid house kick for example.I like hard dance music, but I don`t regard hard as fast. Techno to me encompasses everything, so whilst people classify me as a techno DJ,I think I am probably closer to a trance DJ, because I like to play music that makes the dancefloor go on a trip. That to me is my definition of trance. I don`t understand labels I have to say, if it moves the dancefloor, bloody well play it, fuck the genres...Whatever, none of this would be happening without clubbers and magazines like Mixmag supporting The Outer Limits, my website and the music. Plus Mike, Dane, Melissa and Barry, The Outer Limits crew, Celine and Brice, the French Possee, so many people have helped, its quite astounding. All I have ever wanted to do is play records, and I am grateful that enough people have been into what I`m doing to make it happen.

i:Vibes: Playing all over the world along side some of the greatest names in dance music must be amazing. Whats the highlight so far in your career?

A: Actually I would have to say The Outer Limits nights in Bournemouth, but there are so many. Andrew Weatherall`s first visit was incredible, so many people just lost the plot that night on the dancefloor. The Outer Limits show at Twilo NYC in 98 was amazing, 3000 people inside, 7,000 outside. The Sundance festival in Estonia, in front of 25,000 people. I`m very priviledged, I have met some really nice people all over the world and they all have special memories. Some of the best nights have been to packed venues of 150 people. I love small clubs.

i:Vibes: And the low point?

A: Getting ripped off for Metamorphosis, Bournemouth politics, the bullshit that people have spread for some inane reason, getting ripped off by Slinky. Beating all this was Linz in Austria in December 2000. I was asked last minute to cover for Juan Atkins. So I drove 22 hours to get there to play for this fuckwit called Eric Fischer. To cut a long story short, I was playing Flash by Green Velvet and Eric decided that he didn`t want me to play the record. He was coked out of his tits admittedly. I told him to fuck off, he ordered the doorman to attack me, refused to pay me. I was stuck in Linz for a few days, and I was getting threats from this idiot at the hotel. Apparently I was English and a long way from home. Fucking moron.

i:Vibes: You recently decided to end your alliance with one love management and set up outer limits again. Want to give us a bit of insite as to why and what the future holds for outer limits?

A: When Slinky fucked us over, we were broke, we got well and truly set up. we decided to come to the USA for a break from Europe. One Love was just someone who we hooked up with. Unfortunately it just wasn`t right. Again another example of people taking advantage. So we ended the relationship in March.

Why The Outer Limits, I don`t know. We get so many emails from peopel saying that The Outer Limits changed their lives, again I am proud to be associated with these people, they made techno happen in a coked up seaside resort, quite astounding really. if you look at when Bournemouth was the big club town in the UK, it was really because of our crowd, we left and look what has happened to Bournemouth, its become a joke. Mixmag in fairness recognised this, say what you want about Mixmag, but I`ve always found them to be fair. As I said before, we got a lot of shit, I guess people didn`t like the rebellious nature of the night, so we just decided enough was enough and stopped. But it was probably something in hindsight we should have considered more carefully, especially in view of the online campaign that has flooded our inbox over the last couple of years to restart it. As such, we`re looking at probably doing some dates in March in the UK, but other than agreeing to restart it, we`ve all been too busy to actually plan it.

i:Vibes: Exactly how many productions have you had released?

A: By the end of this year it will be 23 in total.

i:Vibes: And what has been your favourite so far? And why?

A: I have to say Wappi purely because of what it represents, Amsterdam and all its temptations. Dave Clarke has moved his support big time behind the remixes though, which get released in November, he has effectively championed the record for the last 3 years almost singlehandedly. Also an ep called The Truth Will Out, which is being advertised on i-vibes. Its an anti war acid techno monster, it got charted number 1 online by DJ, we`re really hoping that people will get behind the record and make a bloody statement about this idiotic and illegal war in Iraq.

i:Vibes: It's nice to see you have a European tour. What countries are you going to so far?

A: We`ve only just announced the tour, Juergen at Warehouse in handling the logistics. I know I`m playing in Holland, Belgium, Germany, Austria,Czech Republic, and we`re talking to promoters in France,Poland, Russia, Luxembourg, Switzerland. I`m hoping to get some dates in the UK, but time will tell on that one.

i:Vibes: And is there a country you love above the rest? And why?

A: I`m Irish, so I love that country. Holland still ranks up there as being the best place in the world in my opinion however. Just because its such an inspiring place to be, the Dutch are a unique race.

i:Vibes: Tell us what else you have coming up in the future that we should look out for.

A: Quite a lot really. Four releases before Christmas, including one out and out breaks release on our new breaks label Break The Beat Music. Another Live in Phoenix mix before Christmas, a tour of the Far East. What should you look out for,the Wappi Remixes and I hope the Truth Will Out will take a hold, purely because of the message in Non Violence Resistance. I`ve seen it work around the USA and I think that if a few brave DJs get behind it and actually play it, they will be surprised (anyone wants a promo copy hit us up, though we don`t have many). I just think its time for the dancefloors around the world to start kicking off, because its our punters who get carted off to do the fighting, not the old fuckers making the decisions. Great way to kill clubland eh, literally..They tried everything else and it didn`t work..If Non Violence can send that message then coolio.

Thank you very much for you time.
