One of the most talked about tracks in recent times finally gets a release. Consisting of a mix by John and one from Finnish star Miika Kuisma, how will this rank?
John 00 Fleming Mix
Using the same kick as his remix of Mahadeva, the general structure of this is the same to that particular remix. Lots of spacey samples are used and the track has a lovely slow buildup to full power, launching in a sublime fashion. Combining a few more psychedelic effects into the track works well here, and the build up takes over 4 minutes which is great, allowing the track to come along slowly. Deep strings are upon us when the kick departs and the lead melody soon joins the party, bringing with it even more power and a drumroll that doesn't want to be left out! When the kick hits, the track is at it's strongest and again like his remix of Mahadeva progresses perfectly. Excellent stuff here.
Miika Kuisma Mix
Miika starts us off with a soft low sound, sounding very atmospheric and it is soon joined by a kick and thereafter a bassline too. Reminding me a lot of some older tracks which don't throw everything in your face from the off, each time the 16 bars end we are joined by new elements, soft hi-hats, gently pushing us up. At the end of the long build up, 3 minutes in we are joined by a bright string and an innovative breakbeat section along with the melody which is superbly produced and my favourite section of the track. All in all a great remix and something a bit softer but in a really effective manner.
Conclusion:
Both mixes have a lot going for them, and it is hard to seperate them in ratings even if both sound totally different. Another great release from J00F Recordings, out Dec 17th
