The second release on the new In-telligance label from Pulsive Media is 'Destination Paradise' from Nebulus...
:: Nebulus - Destination Paradise :: In-telligance :: In-telligance002
1) Destination Paradise (Original Instrumental) The track begins positively with a moderate kick and a reassuring rumble of bass. You get a nice feeling of sustained pace from these opening sections so things are off to a good start. Things slowly build as synths grow in the background and the percussion fills out and gets braver. The big trancey synth buildup continues more subtly after the main elements have dropped back for the breakdown and the main melody emerges from this padded synth sound. Once the track kicks back in and the melody takes the reigns, you become aware of a more commercial sound than the buildup suggested. However, the melody is very warm and uplifting, and I like how it sounds and works with the backing chords. The synths used play a big part here, they are a really nice trancey sound and if played by anything else the track wouldn't have anywhere near as much impact as its holding onto currently.
2) Destination Paradise (Ozone Remix) Ozone's remix begins with a stronger kick but keeps minimalistic as it uses just a thin percussion and a gritty bassline to develop things further. What we have here is a track interspersed with lots of little synthy parts which are all quite light and fluent - definitely Ozone's style. The main melody begins in a breakdown as you'd expect and is played softly at first by some smooth synths backed with some ever smoother backing notes. When things kick in the synths gain a sharper, trancier (and Ozone-esque!) edge. It is played smoothly as opposed to the way in which it is pumped out in the Original, so its a nice change of flavour and although the commercial sound is still there its played down somewhat. This one is more soothing overall than uplifting.
Conclusion:
A controversial track, really. Both mixes are full of nice sounds while you will be able to sense the commercialness. However, the melody is very nice to listen to, as is Ozone's style, so overall a nice bit of trance.
