Theres a new release on its way from KYR and the buzz the pair of tracks are creating with the big names makes it look like its time for another massive KYR release...!
The two Dutch producers S. Renes and J. Fockert have joined forces to produce 'Obsession' and 'Devotion' under the alias Solid Trax. Quite frankly thats exactly what these two are - solid tracks! Theres already been big reactions from the likes of Marco V, DJ Ton B, Les Hemstock, DJ Choose, Marc West, Mystic Force, Precision and the list is growing. Lets check out these tech trance monsters!
:: Solid Trax - Obsession / Devotion :: KYR Records :: KYR327
1) Obsession 'Obsession' kicks off with a hefty yet soft-edged beat and some really deep and low down bass which simmers away moodily in the background. Theres activity to be heard in the percussion and also a nifty little bass synthline. Its all about progression and development here. Things move on and you hear an engaging acidic instrument taking the lead and then some gentle synths take the lead seat for a short while. There are excellent contrasts throughout the track which makes it highly interesting to listen to because you're always adjusting and re-adjusting - for example the gentle synth led section drops into a strong and beat-ridden section which feels really deep and moody before things transform once more. As the track plays through, we see a culmination of all the elements, the main ones being the bassline, the gentle synths and a lead (rather saxophone-esque) instrument playing a cool melody to top things off. Melodic, progressive, deep and techy. One very strong track indeed!
2) Devotion 'Devotion' begins with a punchy kick, snare and hi-hat combination leaving its options open and keeping you guessing as to where its heading. All of a sudden, the snare and hi-hat are dropped and replaced by a booming, gurgling bassline. The sound is rich, full and noticeably strong - very good production is in evidence here (as it was in the first track, also!). The track enjoys changing - using these changes, while subtle but highly noticeable, to introduce new elements and new sections which move in new directions. It keeps a driving feel throughout, which is important because this helps keep things mobile. A melodic element is slowly blended in to this already fantastic track. Its not overly strong, but is with-held and has a very sincere feeling about it which just conveys emotion. There are so many things intertwined - melodic chords switching to a melody, breaking down and then firing back up into driving, techy sounds. Its hard to do the track justice with words alone. You can't put your finger on one thing here, all the well thought out parts fit together and create a monster track which you must have.
Three easy letters to remember here: KYR. The last release, Deep Orbit - Air, turned heads and now this just shows that KYR are a force to be reckoned with. Keep an eye on them!
Conclusion:
Both of these new tracks on KYR are great, but 'Devotion' steals the show hands down. It sounds and feels like great passion was put into this one. Some of the best tech-trance I've heard this year, utterly superb!
