Here are the remixes of Michael Splint's quality track, Secrets (Broke My Heart). Making the changes are the one and only Airbase and Blyant & Tusch...
:: Michael Splint Feat. Sasja - Secrets (Broke My Heart) :: F&W Records :: FWREC 007-2
1) Secrets (Broke My Heart) (Airbase Remix) I like Airbase productions so I had high hopes for this one. The beginning keeps up the expectations with a solid kick and enticing bassline. You're drawn in further by a few layers of staggered percussion before the full deep and quite driving bassline starts to power its way through the track. More layers of percussion, sfx and some synthy bits 'n' bobs are blended together to really engross you and we hear the first indications of a nice sounding chord progression. Lots of tension builds as a stark synth stabs out a rhythm up until the pad laden breakdown. Now, another breakdown you might think. However this is THE breakdown. Its the breakdown to end all breakdowns. Just as you get used to the soft pads, Airbase plays his hand and in a master stroke introduces an awesome sounding acoustic guitar playing a great little melody. Its joined by another acoustic guitar and they play out a fantastic duet together. An electric guitar is also introduced as the icing on the cake and adds a fantastic finishing touch to this unexpected and brilliant section. But wait, Airbase hasn't finished yet! Back to trance synths - some truly awesome sounds begin to erupt and build. Grippingly deep bass and some crisp and perfect synths build you to a sublime climax and makes you hang on and hang on until it pours out the tracks full melody backed by some stomping kicks and bass. This is an absolutely awesome remix of an already great track, you simply must hear it, you simply must own it.
On top of all of this quality, there is also a vocal version of this one, so nobody misses out.
2) Secrets (Broke My Heart) (Blyant & Tusch Remix) Blyant & Tusch step up next to deliver their interpretation of 'Secrets'. They take on a much tougher approach, utilising a sharp and snappy kick with a prominent clap every 2 beats. An offbeat deep bass sample and some coarse stabs of synth give this a Cosmic Gate kind of sound to it - similar but not on the same level. Sasja's vocal part also features here - some of it totally solo, and it is well sung. As the track moves on, the vocals are followed up by a strong trancey synth which pushes out the melody along with the off beat bass. After this strong section, there is a vocal interlude before one final section of strong hard trance.
Conclusion:
Blyant & Tusch do well to deliver a tough little number but Airbase totally steals the show with a simply incredible piece of work.
