The latest on the RR imprint is here and its from a new project - Cygnific. PvD, Eddie Halliwell and Marco V are playing this one, so read on to find out more about the techy trancer 'Vires'...
:: Cygnific - Vires :: RR :: RR025
A: Vires (Original Mix) Without hesitating for even a moment, this track dives straight in with a punchy kick and some dark and gritty bass which grinds away unforgivingly in the background. This track is essentially a progressive tech-fest, featuring large stabs of really coarse synths with a really techy sound and feel to them. This isn't all though - there are a few sections which are driven not by the big synths but by some spacey pads to add some calmer moments and variety. It always brings you back to the powerful sound of the bass and synths though and eventually ends up powering you out to the end. This tracks dark and moody atmosphere makes it one for a harder set for sure.
AA: Vires (Dub Mix) The Dub Mix on the flip is very similar in structure to the Original Mix, but it takes a much more easy going approach. The bassline has been calmed down to a soft little bounce and the lead synths are used with restraint and are less coarse than their original counterparts. The spacey pads also feature a lot more, and earlier on in the track too. The sense of driving darkness is still apparent but has its edge removed by the almost melodic elements that are more evident in this remix. This one could make its way into the more trancier sets without you having to worry about frightening the faint hearted.
Conclusion:
Two good tracks here in versatile flavours and both with drive and vigour. Probably most appealing to the heavily tech based trance lovers out there. I think Cygnific is worth keeping an eye on for the future definitely.
