Quite a lot of rumours have been going around the past few months. Some people said ID&T was going to stop releasing records, others mentioned something about a restart. We've got all the info in here, read on to find out...
'Be Yourself Music' will be the replacement for ID&T Music, starting in January 2005. ID&T's current A&R Dick de Groot will be running it.
The ID&T Management and Dick de Groot decided that it would be better to split off the Music division from the rest of the company. The new label will still be cooperating with ID&T, though ID&T will not have any financial interest in it. The main reason for the separation is that ID&T has grown too big. A lot of different interests had to be taken care of, so all in all it would be better to split off the Music division to ensure maximum efficiency.
Be Yourself Music will, together with Universal, still take care of all the ID&T CD compilations. Also, most of ID&T's current artists like Marco V., Benjamin Bates, Rank 1, Marcel Woods etc. will stay at the new label. One artist who did leave is Johan Gielen, who is now releasing his records on the Fundamental label.
The new label will take ID&T's whole backcatalogue with it, as well as the Subliminal label, and all previous ID&T releases will still be available in the shops.
One difference is that BYM will try to concentrate on quality over quantity. The ID&T Management made yearly estimates for the amounts of releases that had to be done on the label, but BYM will reduce the amount of releases to ensure maximum quality.
The first release on the new label will be available in February 2005, most likely being Ernesto vs. Bastian - 'Darkside Of The Moon'.
