Jondi and Spesh have new releases
Looq Records LQ-1027
Jerry Bonham - Sequence
A: Sequence AA: Sequence (Darko & Gainer Remix)
Jerry Bonham - Sequence (with Darko & Gainer Remix)
Tight and pumping, "Sequence" delivers on multiple fronts. Seductive vocals? Check. Relentless groove? Got it. Bombastic production? Yep. This is undoubtedly a Jerry Bonham production.
Darko & Gainer instantly set a dark and insistent tone with their redress, taking the groove in a definite Digweedian direction. The impenetrable groove morphs into a sleek breakdown that loops the vocal into a mantra, then brings back the beats with acidic fervor. Nice one! Looq Records LQ-1026
Phunk Police - Falling Stars
A: Falling Stars AA: Fallings Stars (Breaks Mix)
Phunk Police - Falling Stars
Brilliant Belfaster Matt Phillips (aka Piece Process) sits down at his recording desk and thinks backwards from "What Would a Good Dance Chart #1 Hit Be?" ... at least that's our best guess at how the man works!
Recording under his new Phunk Police alias, Mr. Phillips has put forth yet another irresistible truffle of a track, entitled "Falling Stars." With his signature slicing high hats and let's-not-fuck-around bassline, this track will wrap around your waist like a boa constrictor and squeeze the grumpiness right out of you. A devious analog riff and outer-space sample provide the massive hooks that will make this record stick to the inside of your box like peanut butter in a dog's mouth.
Flip that shit over and what do you get ... a hardcore chunky breaks treatment that pulls no punches. Done!
Looq Records LQ-1025
Jordan Lowy - Shadows
A: Shadows AA: Shadows (Jondi & Spesh Remix)
Piece Process - Move Your Body After a string of absolute stonkers as long as Michael Jackson's rap sheet, Loöq Records has discovered an absolute gem, a track so deep and intense that you'll be calling your ex from the dancefloor, in tears and ready to grovel, before we grab the moby from your sorry hand and smash it to bits under our steel-toed boots.
Jordan Lowy's "Shadows" starts with a laid back break and pads, but the energy and intensity quickly builds. The electric guitar drops in like a sexy alien chick asking you to stay in bed, even you can't remember the night before, or how you ended up on this particular planet. The groove is smooth and entrancing, the hook is massive, and this track will surely echo in the minds of next-day clubbers.
Leave it to Jondi & Spesh to take this deep innocent track, feed it a diet of steak cubes and ephedra, and raise a monster so intense that a pretty piano melody turns into a growling predator. With a kick-drum a wide as a house, the four on the floor remix is a peak time club moment packed tightly into a 12" package. WARNING: Make sure your dance floor is architecturally solid before the guitar lead drops!
