The latest from Spinnin' Records' house division is a groovy little piece which will be familiar to many a listeners ear. Don Diablo has spent some time reworking 'Easy Lover'...
There is a buzz at the moment in the club-house realm and it has something to do with Don Diablo's reworking of Phil Collins' and Philip Bailey's 'Easy Lover'. Lets see what new twist has been added to this well known little number...
:: Don Diablo Vs. Divided – Easy Lover :: Spinnin' Records :: SP043
A: Easy Lover (Instrumental) The track starts off nice and easy but soon starts to tease you with some funky snippets of bass just before it really kicks off with a retro bassy instrument leading the way. There are a lot of filtered sections present - as with a lot of club house - and these bits are generally used here to bring in another element. We see the introduction of some backing electric guitars and eventually the main lead guitars that play the main riffs of this classic tune. This track is nice because obviously its a reworking of the classic 'Easy Lover' but it also carries along with it a good feeling and generally upbeat sound and rhythm. The feedback from this track so far from some house-names also speaks for itself: Eddie Amador: "Awesome record, massive floor reactions." Erick E: "Fantastic club record." Laidback Luke: "Dope! This is going to be huge!" Robbie Rivera: "Great remix of this classic tune, very cool record!"
B: Easy Lover (Original) On the flipside we have the same track with all the full vocals included. It'll all depend on your set, the crowd, the time and place and of course your own tastes when it comes to deciding which of the two you'll be playing.
Conclusion:
You can't beat the classics and in this reworking the classic sound has been kept and has just had some extra housey jazz added to it to spice things up. Works very well!
