Reflekt Feat. Delline Bass - Need To Feel Loved (12" Club Mix)

We'll start with what I think is my favourite version/remix of this track. And what a superb 'progressive' house track it is. It slowly builds and progresses with a nice and simple beat, until we are greeted by some very chilling but very beautiful and catchy vocals. It continues to build with added percussion, and a gorgeous melody to accompany it. We are swiftly taken to a very 'ambient and chilled' breakdown; perfectly combined with Delline Bass vocals, and very nice violin sounding synths layered over the top. As it kicks in, it is slightly more uplifting this time, with very subtle key changes in the melody to bring a very nice uplifting feel to what overall is a depressing track. I love how this track can bring out both sad and happy emotions at the same time, and is absolutely stunning to hear in a club. Brilliant.

Reflekt Feat. Delline Bass - Need To Feel Loved (Thrillseekers Remix)
 -
Overall a pretty poor take on the Original, in that it really doesn't add anything new at all other than an overused Steve Helstrip kick plus token 'hands in the air' synths thrown over the top for good measure. I love the Original Mix for its 'subtleness' but the Thrillseekers Mix is all about big room synths and over exaggerated melodies, and there is really no need. Make no mistake though, it's still a nice track, and an all round well produced piece of music but I feel a trance take on this was a bit unnecessary. It builds a lot faster this time round, with the synths and percussion and vocals all being introduced very quickly as we head towards the breakdown. I feel there is a too much of a clash with the depressing violin sounds in the background, and Steve Helstrips typical 'thrillseekers trancey synth' in the buildup. As the track kicks in after the very chilled breakdown, it resumes its uplifting run and this sudden change sounds quite odd. As well as this, the vocals just don't suit. Overall it's a very disappointing remix.

Reflekt Feat. Delline Bass - Need To Feel Loved (Seb Fontaine And Jay P's Remix)
 -
Quite an interesting remix here from Seb and Jay P, with a slightly funkier or even 'groovier' if you will version of the original. It's certainly a bit regressive and the bassline very repetitive, but it somehow manages to build quite quickly. The bassline is quite tough, especially with the funky and deeper synths this time round. It really is no match for the Original, but it's nice to see a different approach. In the later stages of the track, an extra melody is layered as the track comes to the outro. It's little touches like this that give the track that something extra, and make it appear to have progressively built from start to finish.

Reflekt Feat. Delline Bass - Need To Feel Loved (Fuzzy Hair Mix)
 -
Out of all the remixes I have heard, this is definitely the most interesting. The bassline is very typical of 'Fuzzy Hair,' pounding and deep, and the kick very heavy too. The vocals are looped and echoed throughout the intro and we are immediately taken to a breakdown. The vocals continue, with very minimal activity in the background. There is a drum roll right before the track kicks in. As it does, it explodes into a huge house anthem, with massive bassline and driving funky melody. It is slowly brought down too a second breakdown, only this time kicks in much harder with some sort of looped effect on the break. It sounds great!

Conclusion:Need To Feel Loved is a key track from the forthcoming film, "It's All Gone Pete Tong." Expect to see a Valentines day release on the 14th February 2005, on Positiva. Both discs offer something completely different so don't forget to pick up yours asap!
