Canada based Aurium Recordings (founded by Greg Benz) turns in its 4th release from the Delikate Imposters. How does it stack up? Read on..
[A] Burlesque
Burlesque starts off with a chuggy bassline and filtered percussion. Instantly, you know this track is going to be an atmospheric and uplifting piece of progressive heaven. Even in its most stripped down form, Burlesque does a great job of chugging along into the first break. The percussion is simply fabulous and the layered synths and effects work seamlessly together to create the feeling that the track is constantly rising. After the break, the bassline is much more pronounced and is joined shortly after by more percussion. After the second break, the track settles into a funky groove, playing with the percussive rhythms while putting the synths in the background. The third break demonstates just how easily the Delikate Imposters can switch up the mood of the track. More synths and percussion are layered until finally one melody which overpowers all the other takes center stage in the fourth break. None of these breaks last more than 30 seconds which is great because the track is constantly moving and very danceable. Tripped out vocal snippets are introduced, creating a segway into the buildup and breakdown (both of which are centered around the main melody). After the breakdown, the track is stripped down to the drums and bassline.
[B] Sleepless City
Sleepless City kicks things off with a break beat and the occasional bass stabs. Much like Burlesque, Sleepless City makes use of synth based melodic elements and lots of percussion early on, which build until the first break. This break is ushered in by a great high pitched melody which is sure to set dance floors aflame. The break then gives way to another devastating bassline and percussion section. Much like Burlesque, there are lots of melodic elements that work together to create a rising feeling. A piano like harmony winds down Sleepless City into another drum and bass section, and the breakbeat drums finish the track off. Watch out for a remix from Santiago Nino!
Conclusion:
If these two tracks are any indication of what is to come from the Delikate Imposters, Aurium Recordings has got its hands on something huge. With a slew of new original productions and remixes in the works, the Delikate Imposters are poised to make a huge impact on the progressive and breaks scenes. With Burlesque and Sleepless City, the Delikate Imposters have succeeded in standing out from the pack and make this release a fine addition to any DJ’s record collection.
