The latest release thats soon to be on its way from Swiss based record label Paradox, is 'Destino' by Leeroy...
:: Leeroy - Destino :: Paradox :: PARA004
A: Destino (Basic Dawn Remix) This track focuses on driving itself forwards in its early stages by means of its fast paced bassline and brisk ever-moving percussion. It develops a lead instrument early on so as to begin a lead hook/melodic progression. The lead synth used has a very strong and abrupt sound with piles of attack and it really penetrates through the track, maybe slightly too strongly at some points. This instrument isn't always used however, because it is replaced at points with a much spacier, trancy synth. This is a good measure because sometimes the harshness of the first synth can become a bit too much at times. Melodically, the track does very well, developing a melody from early on into something that plays very well, especially when complimented with the full power bass and trancey backing synths. Its one of those tracks that stores everything up until the final main sections, then lets rip with all of its potential.
B: Destino (Vesiga Club Mix) The Vesiga Club Mix of 'Destino' works in a very similar way to the Basic Dawn Remix. By this I mean that lead elements are built upon early on in the track, well founded in the breakdown and then capitalised on in the final main sections. The strong sounding lead synth is still present here, but the part that is being built up and worked on constantly is a gritty but still trancey synthline which dances around the main chord progression of the track. This is a lot more melodic than the track on the A-side but in taking this route it is leaning a little towards becoming similar to a lot of other tracks that have come before it, but not quite! That said, once the pads kick in it does sound really nice, so it can't really be faulted!
Conclusion:
Its hard to pick a favourite out of these two. The Basic Dawn Remix is powerful and energetic while the Vespa Club Mix is a lot more melodic and eventually produces some really nice sounds. Both are good tracks though!
