After 12 years of spinning records and more than 6 years of producing many 12''es the time has finally come to release his first album. Alex Bau is back on track with his unique techno sounds on the album 'Connected'!
Alex Bau- Connected CD Album
01. Don't Break Out 02. Percussive Fetish 03. Connected 04. Unpleasent Surprise 05. Sawtooth Massacre 06. Difference 07. In A Row 08. Risky Adventures 09. Dub In My Mind 10. All Good 11. Crashed In The Beginning 12. Difference (Tony Rohr Remix)
The album starts off with 'Don't Break Out', a very atmospheric track which sucks you up and makes you chill, but the chilling doesn't take long as the 2nd track 'Percussive Fetish' starts. This groovy track makes you swing and has a very addictive sound, although it is a quite simple tune. After this there is 'Connected', the titletrack. 'Connected' quickly proves that Alex Bau also stands for nice deep sounds. Those same deep sounds are also included in 'Unpleasent Surprise', a more harder track with wicked sounds and a very cool break, definetly a floor filler! And the floor stays filled with 'Sawtooth Massacre', hot bangin' techno with guts!
The 6th track 'Difference' takes it more easy again, but has a nice heavy industrial beat which will not make you sleep after those heavy weight monsters like 'Unpleasant Surprise' and 'Sawtooth Massacre'. The next track is In A Row, a groovy tune which is too monotone compared with the other tracks, so we quickly go to the next tune 'Risky Adventures', a very laidback breakbeat tune which shows that Mister Bau really is a cross-over junk. After this one there is 'Dub In My Mind', a quite inaccessable deep tune which not really gets a grip on me. But I forgot 'Dub In My Mind' very fast when I heard the first sounds of 'All Good', a nice energetic tune which is definetly meant for the dancefloor, a comparison can be made with Michel de Hey-like tracks.
There are also two bonus tracks on the cd. The first bonus track is a tune called 'Crashed In The Beginning'. Also a very nice one to get your ass on the dancefloor. And there is the last track: a remix from Tony Rohr of 'Difference'. Tony Rohr changed the tune nicely and gave it a more clubby sound.
Alex Bau- Connected Bonus Dj Mix

Drumcomplex- Believe
But wait, there is more! Yes, Alex Bau also included a nice dj mix of himself with the album. This mix contains many different styles of techno but in this mix it really becomes one. Techno killers like Robert Natus' Pain and Chris Liebing's Fires Of Hell are included, but also more minimal laidback tracks like Tony Rohr's My Mind Is Going Dub and Eyerer & Chopsticks' She Loves It. Great tracks and nice mixing!
Conclusion:
So Alex Bau really is an other description of 'cross over', this can be heard in his tracks and in his mix. The Connected album is really a 'wannahave' for all those techno freaks out there who are waiting for variation and are open for some new sounds!
