The classic 'Wanna Have A Good Time' has had a bit of the rework treatment and comes at us on the Sunrise label with another interesting remix on the flip! Check it out!
:: Peran - Good Time :: Sunrise Recordings :: SUN026
A: Good Time (Club Mix) Right from the start you can hear the gentle hum of the main chord progression reminding you of this little gem of a track. Some thicker bassier sounds are used to pad the track out and a bouncy bass riff keep things lively. The first breakdown is where it all starts, after a huge snareroll, the classic melody shines through, not overplayed or over hyped, just delivered well by a suitably trancey synth and some soft backing pads. Most of this track focuses on the main melody, as thats basically the crux of the entire track, so you're treated to loads of it. And rightly so! This remake still has an air of the classic sound to it, even after being jazzed up which is probably for the better. A nice track to enjoy!
B: Good Time (Big Room Toxicstuff) This remix took me by surprise! it starts straight off with a tough and relentless techno beat and deep and airy sounds in the background. Every now and again a snippet of the main melody shouts out and the techno takes back over again. There are 3 breakdowns in this track - each one the beat and percussion stops and the main melody (in the same synth as the A side) is allowed to shine again. Each time the techno beat stomps back in and drives the track onwards. These driving sections are interspersed by the "Wanna have a good time!" vocal snippets which have been worked over with fx and the like. A surprsing dose of techno with a twist!
Conclusion:
A rather cool vinyl in my opinion - you get a nice dose of the classic track, plus a twisted up new techno style remix to completely take people by surprise!
