Sandler makes a welcome return to Liquid Recordings and is here to deliver a brand new three track E.P. called 'Chemistry'...

Sandler first appeared on Liquid with some quality remix work - namely Matt Darey's 'Nocturnal Delight' and 4 String's 'Turn It Around' - and so introduced people to his well balanced thick and trancey sound. Sandler's first solo release on Liquid was the awesome 'Theme Song' and now to follow this up he has produced three mixes of his new track, 'Chemistry'. Check this one out!

A: Chemistry (Acid Mix)

The first of the three mixes features a very SvD type of sound with a heavy beat and really deep bass rolling and driving onwards. The percussive presence is topped off with a deep and coarse synth which taps out a rhythm matching up with the bassline nicely. After this driving and fairly progressive-come-techy introductory section comes an eerie and ambient section filled with deep basses and ghostly shrill synths. A deep and gritty synth is used to bring things back from this spooky section into more of the driving, bass driven stuff we were treated with earlier. The is one more small eerie breakdown which is followed by a final outro section of driving beats and bass.

B1: Chemistry (Solid Mix)
The Solid Mix of 'Chemistry' takes on a different sound and the result of this is utterly fabulous! From the very start we are subjected to some stomach turningly deep (and I mean deep) bass. It rolls and rolls on relentlessly, backed only by a minimal percussion and hefty beat. The atmosphere created is dark and moody and is fuelled by swirling, ambient sfx and a subtle, bassy synth playing a short hook over and over. A fairly quiet - but just as moody - breakdown is highlighted by a big, piercing lead which lays out a few notes but doesn't over-indulge, which is important in keeping to the subtle nature of the track, and Sandler's style. When the track breaks back in, the bassy synth is joined by another, which harmonises the hook and transforms it into a proper lead. Its very compelling, has great drive and sounds quality! One final breakdown sets the scene for one last section driven by the deep, coarse and bassy synths. One of the main features here is the sound these bass synths create - they have an incredibley crisp edge yet retain a deep, dark and bassy sound at all times. That along with the fantastically deep rolling bass in the background and you have a real force to be reckoned with! Brilliant!

B2: Chemistry (Fluid Mix)
The final mix of 'Chemistry' has more pace and feels a lot more nimble due to the active bassline. The focus is on some subtle synths and sfx creating the atmosphere, along with the driving, off-beat techno-style hi-hats. The first of two breakdowns in this mix is where the lead synth is introduced. These are big, epic, trancey synths - totally in the Sandler style - which are used to push out a nice melody over the thick, rumbling bass. It reminds me slightly of 'Theme Tune', but thats not really a surprise. Its great when the track kicks back in being led by these massive synths - the stacks of bass and melody working together is a wonderful sound to hear and will rock dancefloors without a doubt!

Conclusion:
Sandler is offering a lot here. Each mix has its own style and so this E.P. will cater for a lot of people. The Acid Mix is deeper and more progressive, while the Fluid Mix goes for the big epic trance synth approach. My favourite is the Solid Mix - awesome bass and a dark and moody atmosphere make this track something special. Overall though, each track is a quality piece, making the 'Chemistry' E.P. something that you really don't want to miss!
