Born in the summer of 2004, the Nu Frequency project is a collaboration between Shield, Alessandro Ripamonti and Cristiano Massera. The first release of Nu Frequency is called 808 and will be released on Sander Kleinenberg's Little Mountain Recordings.
The melody of 808 has been conceived by Alessandro, a musician and old friend of Shield, who passed on the original demo to Shield, dj and A&R of Oxyd Records. Shield took his old friend’s demo, got together with producer Cristiano, and gave the track a subtle tweak. Now let's talk about the results..
Original Instrumental This Original Instrumental version of 808 starts out with a very punchy bassline and nice atmospheric sounds that leads to a short break. After the short break there is that sound what makes this record so big...those great guitar hooks! The nice bassline with the guitar hooks will lead to a bigger break with a very dreamy atmosphere. After the break the track continues with a nice lower bassline and also here the guitar hooks grab you and makes you swing till the end of the track
Dub Mix In the Dub Mix there is the little thing what's really essential to be added with this tune: Vocals! 808 contains male vocals from Tom Glide, who gives the tune a nice Dirty Vegas-like sound which gives just that little extra to the tune. Also some extra sounds are added to give that 'feel good' atmosphere. The vibe of the Dub Mix itself is just some more housy than the Original Instrumental what makes the track even better in my opinion.
Radio Edit Ah yes, a full vocal edit of the Original! Quite emotionally lyrics take control and give that extra vibe to the tune. Also the break is outstanding with the added vocal effects. Too bad that this one only is a radio edit of 3 minutes and 15 seconds, it really deserves an extended version.
Conclusion:
I can only say that the Nu Frequency - 808 tune will be a hit for sure. Great soundscapes, a very nice atmosphere and good male vocals make this track superb. With early support from artists like Armin van Buuren, Pete Tong and Sasha it almost can't go wrong anymore. Watch out for this one!
