Matt Darey Trance
This month I'm wrapping things up in the studio before setting out on a back to back album tours of the USA then Australia. Its gonna be a bit of a marathon with 18 dates lined up across both continents. I've got loads of new tunes to play out on tour and the whole trance scene seems to be getting even fresher with some fusion of eclectic influences. It's about that time of year when the big tracks of the summer start really breaking through in a mad rush before the Ibiza season sets in. Unfortunately I'm gonna be away on tour for most of the summer but I will be popping over to the White Isle for a few gigs in between.

The big thing on everyone's minds at the moment is who will be the new up and coming talent to break through into the big time this year. There's a lot of new kids on the block and the recent UK trance awards gave some indication but here are my tips for 2005.

Europe is oozing with budding new talent with Martin Roth from Germany who was discovered by long time transters Blank & Jones this guy is now turning his hand from out and out banging hard trance to some new and eclectic influences which is giving him an original edge. Two of the biggest duo's in my mind are gonna be Kayu v's Albert and Ernest & Bastian are two more from Europe to really watch out for in the coming months both recently smashing clubland with some fresh sounds and I'm sure that E&B's 'Darkside of the Moon' will be one to cross over into daytime radio. On more of purist trance tip one of the names that keeps popping up is Austrian Mr Oliver Prime reviewed in these pages for his great work on the rehash of LSG's 'Netherworld' and his debut on spinning 'Mind Games'. Also on the darker side of trance is the massive Sandler aka Sam Sharp who seems to be quite consistent in 2004 so im looking forward to seeing what he comes up with in 2005.

From the UK, Top of the tree has to be Adam White & Andy Moor who's co productions under there 'White Room' alias has won them great acclaim especially with the most recent 'Someday' being smashed by everyone. Also these two have been making waves as solo artists as well. Adam White with Reverence on Darren Tates Mondo label and more recently with the trance monster Ballerina. Andy Moor has been responsible for some of the best remixes of the year with productions like 'Ridge Walkers - Find' under his belt and numerous progressive mixes with Marty Leama as Leama & Moore not to mention his part in the creation of probably the biggest progressive trancer of the year with Tilt 'What the world doesn't know' Also from the UK there's Headstrong aka Don Jackson founder of the infamous headstrong-hq.com which is now one of the fastest growing Trance sites on the net. With his recent offering and collaboration with the beautiful vocals of Tiff Lacey of Oakenfold fame looks like this guy is set for big things in 2005.

GIGS
In the UK April kicks off with the official Global Gathering launch party on 2nd April. Tiesto will be making a welcome return to headline proceedings as Gods serve up the full glorious platter for Global Gathering 2005. Armin returns on the 23rd for an all night show down and Eddie Halliwell heads up proceedings at the end of the month. Also Godskitchen and Goodgreef present 'From Russia With Love' at The MEN on 9th April with PAUL VAN DYK, JUDGE JULES, MARCO V, FERGIE, EDDIE HALLIWELL, LISA LASHES AND MANY MORE... In London on April 9th I'll be spinning my first ever set for Massive @ Mass with Rank 1 www.massiveevents.info Also you can catch Londons biggest Trance party on 15th with Knowwhere at the Fridge www.clubknowwhere.co.uk and If your down in Brighton, the Gallery launch its new night at the Honey Club with myself, Kiss 100's John Askew and future hero nominee & Turnmill's resident Gavin Mitchel.

I'm really pleased to announce that the London trance scene is going from strength to strength with the relaunch of an new night at Heavens Soundshaft with Trance Generation. Over the coming year, I will be headlining alongside many of the world's leading and most cutting edge trance dj's and producers including John 00 Flemming, Scott Bond, Matt Hardwick, Lange, Solarstone, Agnelli & Nelson, The Thrillseekers, Darren Tate, Ben Lost and Corderoy to name just a few alongside fellow residents Gary Ramsden and Ehren Stowers. Trance Generation has fast become London's specialist trance night, continuing to offer uncompromising and cutting edge line-ups. With their knowledgeable crowd Trance Generation is the perfect home for more progressive & Intelligent trance sets in London. TRANCE SINGLE REVIEWS

Yilmaz Altanhan - 80's (Ozgur Khan) Anjunabeats
Another corker from the Anjunabeats label this time bringing in new talent from Turkey. Following on from the deeper sound of producers like Probspot with that deep Garage Bline and crisp beats Ozgar Khan delivers a fine piece of progressive trance. I loved this one so much I've used it to open my forthcoming USA album. Ozgar has been pulling out a few punches recently so watch out fro more from this guy in 2005.

Max Graham Feat Jessica - Riddle Gone (Orig) Shine
Max Graham has been on the scene for a long time now but has recently been on a bit of a roll with his latest productions. Gone is driven by an upbeat house groove and features a stunning vocal from Jessica. When you reach the breakdown the authentic strings in this track really make for a touch of class. Really lovin this and sure it will be big across the board from house to Trance DJ's.

Martin Roth - Last time (Orig) Gang Go
Martin Roth brought us the monster remake of the classic Orange Theme last year in a very Tiesto Adagio for strings flavor. Now he brings us more of his driving a dark sound but with a new twist a vocal taken from a UK brit pop band called "Keane" - their last album from 2004 was massive. "This is the last time" was their single from 2004. With the vocals it is no official release and so far only a DJ-only giveaway.. The track kicks off to a very moody start then progresses into a melodic but Underpinned by a driving & phazing bassline. The vocal really makes this track stand out cause it's quite unusual for a trancer. Really addictive and avoids the typical formulas of arrangement.

Jon Con v Nikola Gala feat Perasma Swing 2 Harmony (Orig / Gabriel & Dresdon) Data
This downbeat and dreamy deep trancer has a very eclectic feel taking influence from Deep house and lush vocals with an ethereal vocal that sounds of Latin origin. The original mix is very laid back and dreamy. Gabriel & Dresdon create a more driving version with a a main hook created from a chopped up rhythm made from the vocal. This tune is quite addictive and will be massive with DJ's of the deeper Genre.

Matt Darey feat Marcella Woods - Liberation 2005 (Darey v's Michael Woods) Darey Products
This was a top 20 hit back in 1999 and now 'You fly like an angel into the arms of temptation' rings out on the worlds trance floors once again. 2005 brings some excellent remixes from the biggest names in trance Michael Woods of Solex & Warrior fame, Terry Bones, Factoria and the guys behind the massive Flash Brothers Amen giving it an electro twist as well as some up and coming new talent.

Frost - Wait for me (Max Graham Side chain mix) Oven Ready
Frost is the brainchild of Danish DJ/Producer Asle, who has been releasing and remixing tracks on labels such as Whoop, Yoshi Toshi and many more. For this, his biggest track to date, he teams up with fellow Dane Anne K, doyenne of many a Café Del Mar album, who provides the gorgeous vocals. Remixes come from the currently hotter than hot Canadian don Max Graham, who gives us a main room odyssey, where the yearning vocals and guitar sit perfectly with his trademark house beats and melodic techno-style basslines.

Oliver Prime - Mind Games (Orig) Spinnin
Austrian producer Oliver Prime which reenacts the early sound and mood of trance back in the day when Perfecto's Orange remix hit the streets. Brought up to date for 2005 this serious piece of instrumental trance will be massive with the purist trance DJ's across the globe. After his recent phenomenal remix of LSG's netherworld on Joof this looks like OP will be making some serious moves up the ladder this year.

Ratty - Sunrise (Mark Sherry) Monster Classics
This was originally released on Neo some years ago and is now due for a new lease of life with a blinding new mix from Mark sherry. The main hook of the tune is the ethereal Irish folk vocal that is very reminiscent of Clannad or Enya. I have a feeling it may have been taken from an old Chemical brothers tune. Sherry puts it all on a backdrop of pumping melodic trance which very much contains the original ingredients but brought up to date and sounding fresh in 2005. I've been caining this and its a winner every time.

Marcel Woods vs Jesselyn - Fauna (Orig) Sillicon
Marcel Woods teams up with Female DJ Jesselyn to create yet another hard trance stomper from the label who recently brought us the massive 'Increase'. The track kicks of with some carnival style drums then breaks into a dark rasping techno bassline. Along comes the hands in the air blippy riff and drums building to a crescendo with some more Bline action. This ones been tearing up the harder trance floors with the fists in the air seal of approval from the lads wherever I drop it.

Scott Mac Damager 05 (Mark Sherry) W/L
The original version of this was one of my most cained tunes a couple of years ago and Mark Sherry now gives it a 2005 facelift in his pounding Northern trance style. I'm pleased to say its well and truly back in the game for another round on the worlds harder trance floors for this anthem. Gets the big hands up from all who have been lucky enough to be rocked by this new mix.....Oi Oi you nutters!!!!

Heller, Inkfish & Sven Mr Drug Abuser (Ian Ossier & Marc Mitchell) W/L
Mr Drugabuser is a collaboration between German Hardy Heller, and Swedes Inkfish and Sven. Heller started his career back with elegndary germanlabel Harthouse in the early ninetees, and has been a householdname on the progressive scene ever since. Inkfish has remixed and produced for labels like Baroque, Dorigen, Limbo, Release, SIlver Planet, SOG and their own Acting Out Records, while Sven has made his name within the technoscene, with remixes for DJ Hell and legendary F-Comm. Together they´ve created a hard tribal groover with some weird vocals. The original is accompanied with a remix from two progressive house legends, Renaissance dj Ian Ossia alongside Marc Mitchell, out of Sunday Club fame.

Peak Twins Hypnowaves (Orig) Electric Sauna
The Finnish Trance scene seems to be really taking off at the moment I went over there recently and now Im getting some great new tunes from the DJ's, producers and labels I met out there. This is a new label and a great debut for my sets with a progressive trancer that really kicks off the night with subtle hooks and uplifting melodies.
