The next release from trance super-label Dedicated is set for imminent release. Taking things in a slightly different direction, we have two new tracks on one record from the Beyond Unreal project...
:: Beyond Unreal - X-Rated / Rhythm :: Dedicated :: DED013
A: Rhythm 'Rhythm' takes on a darker and techier approach to things, but it possesses a thick and fuller sound due to the heavy kick, deep bass and thorough use of strange gurgles of sfx. The track is led by a smooth, trancey synth to begin with, but this develops into a rythmic stabbed synth pattern after the breakdown. The stabs aren't as tough and tense as those in 'X-Rated' on the B-side, so a kind of melodic feel is kept with this track, which may make it more appealing to a wider audience.
B: X-Rated The second track we hear on this new vinyl is an even greater change in style to the Dedicated releases we've been hearing lately. This time round we're presented with a fairly minimal and dark sound - a snappy kick and simple percussion backed with just a rolling bassline and abruptly sinister stabs of a coarse and gritty sounding synth. It sometimes sounds like an oldskool 'hit', especially at the start of the first breakdown. The track revolves primarily around this synth which builds heavily during the breakdown, playing a pretty fiercly stabbed out rhythm. This continues once the track drops back in and things just concentrate on this tense sounding rhythm for the rest of the track. Minimal with a dark and techy edge to it.
Conclusion:
The latest release on Dedicated hold two solid techy-trancers. One takes a darker, techy approach while the other leans more towards the trancey melodic elements. Well worth a listen!
