After a fairly quiet period, Anjunabeats are poised to release another awesome piece of trance. This one is called 'Desert Eagle' by Kaste...
Kaste are a new project by two Finnish producers, Mika Savela and Jani Kervinen, who already work together under the name Dyyni. Jani also works alone under the Mystery-Islands alias.
:: Kaste - Desert Eagle :: Anjunabeats :: ANJ045
A: Desert Eagle (Original Mix) The beginning of 'Desert Eagle' is nicely paced and features all the right ingredients to kick a track off to a good start - a strong kick, deep bass and a nice selection of synthy sfx to keep things interesting. It progresses by bringing in a large synth presence ranging from long sustained backing chords to basic melodic elements without giving away any secrets as to what the main sections include. The breakdown is a fairly dramatic affair with peaks and builds and lots of sfx. Eventually we get to the melodic buildup and its a moment worth waiting for. The delicate synth driven melody soars above all other sounds in this piece and floods the track with emotion. Top it off with some very well placed piano chords and subtle female "Aahhs" to complement it once the track drops back in and you have one hell of a trance production on your hands. This track reminded me of Aalto's 'Taurine' and Menno De Jong's 'Guanxi' in places. Top, top tune!
B: Desert Eagle (Smith & Pledger Remix) The hot trance duo, Smith & Pledger, are on remix duty here so expectations are high! The beginning is quite similar, headed by powerful beats and strong bass. The emphasis is moved away from the synth presence and put onto the female "Aahhs", which are used more frequently here, adding an eerie touch to the atmosphere with their ghostly sounds. The melody comes in as soon as the track breaks down. This time a single, fairly simple sounding instrument takes on the melody in its entirety as opposed to it being subtly led by synth chords as it was in the Original Mix. The melodic sound is a lot more delicate sounding because of this, so it is backed up by the female vocals and some subtle sweeps of extra synth to compensate. The main feeling of the track is still conveyed just as strongly though, making it equally as good as the Original Mix.
Conclusion:
What a fantastic track! Another winner on Anjunabeats! The Original Mix conveys its message through a thick and wholesome wave of pure trancey sound while Smith & Pledger cut it down into more strongly defined parts to achieve the same goal. An awesome release!
