The third release on this still rather young label comes from two German producers who have been making proper trance for quite a while. This time they chose to work together with male vocalist Eddie Thoneick, so let's see if it worked out!
The first two releases on Ligaya were Stefan Moné - 'Beautiful Ways' and Aviation - 'Outshine', which were supported by quite a few of today's key players in trance. The originals for 'Falling' are made by Bernd 'Nostrum' Augustinski and Frank Künne, but this vinyl includes two mixes by Normen Flaskamp, better known as Aviation. Let's check them out! A-side: Aviaton Vocal Spacy FX being guided along by a thumping kick are the main elements during the first part of the track. A rather catchy backing synth serves as a prelude to the introduction of the no-too-special main bassline, though it does succeed in creating an extra bit of agility during the build. Tiny string-parts and a bunch of new rhythms keep the variation at a nice level, but cannot help remove the fact that most of the structure sounds a tad 'standard' until now. The main breakdown firstly consists of an addictive set of strings, but gets accompanied by the vocals soon enough. Though I'm not a fan of male vox most of the time, I quite enjoyed these. They aren't whining or annoying, but just rather pleasant to listen to. With more and more vocal lines appearing, the first hints to the main melody start playing behind the other elements. When I first listened to this track, I couldn't resist to hum along with the chords to be honest! A cool uplifting vibe has been created, with the fast-changing melody being led on by an energetic synth during most of its time. Definitely check this out if you're a vocal trance guru!
B-side: Aviation Dub Of course this vinyl wouldn't be complete without a proper non-vocal version! As with most dubs, the structure of the A-side has been kept fully intact, with the only difference being the breakdown that is somewhat shorter. The main riff is being brought in earlier, resulting in a kind of different experience than the A-side: the build and drive of the melody are being brought forward in a better way now, a thing that will surely keep the people who aren't too fond of the vocals happy.
Conclusion:
Although the main structure of both of the tracks isn't too inventive, we are still dealing with a rather nice vinyl here. The main melody is fairly catchy, and the vocals on side A are quite OK as well. Next up on Ligaya is Serenade's 'Aura / Illusion', which will be reviewed here on i:Vibes soon as well!
