Carlo Resoort is ready to present his latest solo release on the Liquid Recordings imprint. Get ready for two fresh slices of tough, techy trance...
Carlo Resoort is also well known for being one half of the 4Strings project. Release-wise, we saw the tough 'Musica' a year ago and a banging - initially anonymously labelled - track near the end of last year, 'XTC'. Moving on well into 2005, Carlo has finished his two latest tracks - 'Ayers Rock' and 'Tape Delay'.
:: Carlo Resoort - Ayers Rock / Tape Delay :: Liquid Recordings :: LQ049
A: Ayers Rock Sharp, punchy beats kick things off, signalling the underlying tough nature of this track right away. In the background, building up towards the break we hear a sustained grainy pad and some crisp synths playing a few notes - contrasting well to the surrounding sinister sounds they also allow some 4Strings influences to shine through. The break is really nice, a very different and unique sounding instrument - rough and grainy sounding with lots of reverb - plays a rising melody accompanied by an unexpected yet very well placed piano. The track gives out an overall feeling of grandeur, which is fitting to the actual Ayers Rock. The heavily reverbed synth also creates a subtle sense of epicness and the piano a sense of reverence. A clever mix of emotions and a great track to boot!
AA: Tape Delay 'Tape Delay' keeps to the same style as 'Ayers Rock' with a lot of familiar sounds and instrument styles. The first really notable element is a penetrating, coarse synth which fires off on the first and last beat of every bar. This is countered by a gentle synthline in the background. This actually grows into a fuller melody and then warps into something stronger and darker - a coarse and cutting lead which pushes out the melody with quite some strength. Overall, this track is less melodic and more lead hook based, allowing it to concentrate on stronger and more sinister sounds.
Conclusion:
Its good to hear a new release from Carlo as his stuff is always a nice surprise and good to listen and dance to. 'Ayers Rock' is a grand and fairly uplifting piece, what with the piano accompaniment and the massive reverb on the lead synth. 'Tape Delay' is stronger and darker, and utilises a more driving sound to fuel its fire. Two more quality tracks for Mr. Resoort and Liquid Recordings!
