Ian Betts has been busy of late, starting his own label, doing the HEAT UK nights among other things, find out what's he up to.
Firstly some very important news about Ian's gig at the Once In A Full Moon Party in Thailand. Unfortunately the Thai government has cancelled the party as a result of the recent terrorist bombings in southern Thailand. In the wake of the Bali bombings where western tourists were specifically targeted, the government have taken the decision to cancel the party where up to 20,000 people had been expected to attend. The organisers have apologised to everyone that had planned to be there, but the safety of travellers in a country that relies on tourism is paramount especially given the recent tsunami tragedy. We hope that the party will be rescheduled later in the year.
We are pleased to say that Ian's itinerary for the Australian leg of his tour is unaffected by the Thailand situation, with all his dates going ahead as planned. As part of this tour, Ian will be headlining the " A Night of Trance v A Night of Hard" party at ARQ in Sydney on May 6th, as well as Frantic in Melbourne on May 13th.
Closer to home, Ian will be a guest on Kuffdam's "Club Damage" radio show on Digitally Imported FM next Monday 18th April. He will be performing an exclusive 1-hour mix in the second hour of the show, which runs from 1900 - 2100 GMT. To listen in, go to www.di.fm and click on the live trance stream.
Ian will also be a guesting on Chris Chamber's "Connected" radio show on Rise FM next Friday 22nd April with another exclusive hour long mix. To listen in, go to www.risefm.com and click on the live stream.
HeatUK's annual tour to Ibiza carries on from where it left off this year with a ten-day marathon at the end of June, and as part of the festivities Ian will once again be playing for Cream at the legendary Amnesia on July 30th. The night is also being co-hosted by Good Greef and the other DJs on the night include Adam Sheridan, Eddie Haliwell and Marco V. For more information on the trip and the night at Cream, please check out www.heatuk.com or www.radicalescapes.com.
Ian's latest track on Elevation Records, 'Polarise' has been picked up none other then Paul Van Dyk! Paul has been caning the track at all his recent gigs whilst also featuring it for three consecutive weeks on his highly influential Soundgarden show on Radio Fritz. Aside from Paul, the track hasbeen getting support from trance DJs around the world including Paul Kershaw, Graham Gold, Dave Pearce, Misja Helsloot, Big Al, Danny Slade and many more.
Ian's new label Six:Thirty Records has also been creating a real buzz since it started up barely a month or so ago. The first release, 'Koinomia' by Neotechnic (a project between Ian and Matt Williams), has been doing the rounds on promo and finding it's way into the record bags of Crasher residents and Galaxy FM jocks Riley & Durrant, Trance Awards hero Adam White, Kiss FM's Graham Gold, Vibe FM's Nikki Elise, IDJ Magazine's Danny Slade, M8's Richard Tulip, and trance's man of the moment John O'Callaghan. Featuring Ian & Matt's Original Mix and a throbbing remix from Vandit regular and PVD favourite Marcos, the official release should be in the shops at the end of the month!
Ian has teamed up with London favourite Ollie Leighs to create the second release on the label - called 'Shimmer' the track will be coming out with a remix by John O'Callaghan and Neal Scarborough under their Inertia guise. For more information on Six:Thirty and to hear snippets of the tracks go to www.sixthirtyrecords.com.
That's all for now, but remember you can keep up to date with the latest news on Ian's gigs, releases, play lists as well as listen to on-line mixes and downloads at www.ianbetts.com.
