Having received support from the big names out there - Armin, Ferry Corsten and Paul van Dyk, Sam Sharp's latest production, 'Error', is ready for release right now on Reset Records...
Its been a while since Sam Sharp demonstrated his talents on the Reset imprint with his first release, 'Deep', on the label. This time round he has left his trademark sound - dark with sinister, stabbing synths - on the sidelines and has gone for something totally different...
:: Sam Sharp - Error :: Reset Records :: RS011
A: Error 'Error' runs along at a leisurely pace, dominated initially by soft and warm sounding bass instrument. If theres any classic Sam Sharp here, you can find it in the comprehensive coverage of percussive elements from simple hi-hats to odd little gurgles and growls embedded into the depths of the track. As we progress, the track is led by different basses playing falling scales, keeping the leisurely feel but also introducing a deeper and more moody feeling. The second break is where the most distinct element of the track is introduced. A coarse and rough synth plays falling scales which start way up high and end up matching some of the more bassy elements. The name of the track must've been born from this, because the synth carries an extremely retro sound and by retro I mean its the kind of noise you'd expect to hear from a computer game back in the good old 1980's. Its a classic sound and is brilliantly implemented and combined into the track. As usual, Sam Sharp doesn't just plough through a track, he has made sure there are plenty of breaks and changes in the track to keep you interested, especially on the dancefloor.
Conclusion:
This track, described as "...not trance, not techno, not progressive..." seems to be doing well with the big names and thats no surprise - I can see this one causing a stir on the 'floors for some time to come. Very different. Very good.
