Ian Betts' new label Six Thirty releases their first release, with Neotechnic's Koinomia and the man of the moment Marcos on remix duties. This is not to be missed

Neotechnic – Koinomia (Six:Thirty Records)

Adding the name Label Owner to your resume is never easy, when you travel the world and play everywhere on a regular basis and your only problem is not having enough clean clothes because your heavy travel schedule. Well Ian Betts has done both, he not only does not have enough clean clothes to wear because of his travels but more importantly he has just opened his own record label called Six:Thirty Records and they have just capped off their first release called “Koinomia”.

Neotechnic is a project between Ian Betts and Matt Williams (known to you hard dance lovers as half of Edison Factor), who decided to make a tune together and “Koinomia” is what they came out with. The label wants to give you unique trance music that doesn't suck, like most of the stuff that people are releasing out of Europe these days. On remix duties, it’s the Paul van Dyk fave Marcos (aka Mark Dearden), who has done the mix on this record.

Neotechnic – Koinomia (Six:Thirty Records)

A1 – Koinomia (Original)
B1 – Koinomia (Marcos Mix)

A1 Original Mix

This starts rather quickly and it feels like it tries to hit you with a hammer and then knocks you unconscious. The bassline is rather well done and the sound effects that come in and out are put together, very well and they add to the atmosphere. The track is kick you in the teeth trance music that the scene is so badly lacking these days. “Koinomia” breaks down rather quietly and just lets the backing elements stay and then the riffs come flying in, oh my word is the easiest way to describe it. Neotechnic allow the riffs to just take all the attention and then boom, it kicks back into 5th gear, what a ride!. I like how they have kept it simple, no massive huge over the top breakdowns, no weepy synths, it is just a good dancefloor trance tune that will do the damage for a while to come.

B1 - Marcos Mix

Ian Betts picks Marcos to help him for the first record remix and I think it was a good choice. Marcos seems to do no wrong these days and with PvD being a huge fan, he is certainly doing something right. Marcos’ mix has an even more energetic start, the track starts even more quickly than the original mix and you can instantly tell, dancefloor destroyer. I like the bassline coupled with underlying effects and you can tell that Marcos is taking this to be a destroyer. The riff comes in and it is just addictive like everything else in this mix. The breakdown comes in a short while later and it is lush and beautiful and you see why Marcos has been one to watch, he knows what the dancefloor needs and tries to tailor his tracks to the club, not the home stereo. The only thing that might get a few people is the strange melody that comes in a certain times, it works with the instrumentation at times but sometimes it feels out of place. Solid mix from an upcoming producer and deejay.

Conclusion:
Six Thirty have certainly slapped the world and said “look at me!” and this is the way to do it, make a real good 12” and let the world do the talking. The original mix is solid and should be a favorite in the deejay’s box, same with Marcos’ mix but his is more dancefloor oriented. Both should do damage on the floors of the world’s clubs and “Koinomia” is certainly a solid first release. Watch for Ian Betts and Six Thirty, you have been warned, they will be ones to watch for in the next few months to next few years.
