The next release on Dedicated is upon us and it seems that they're continuing in their fine form...
:: Arizona Vs. Passiva - Halo :: Dedicated :: DED014
A: Halo (Original Mix) The first element of this tune that grips you is the deep and commanding bassline - thick with a slight edge to it. Add to that a really punchy kick and you have something that has your attention right from the start. 'Halo' is all about synths really. As the tune progresses, more and more are layered up on top of each other. Masterfully done, there isn't any sense of overcrowding - the sound just intensifies and various melodic elements intertwine and flow around each other. The main breakdown introduces the more dominant synth of them all which plays a long and flowing melody which rises and falls in strength. These dynamics really do add to the overall effect of the tune. There is another short break before the final main section of the track unleashes. You couldn't ask for more in pure trance - this track combines lush pads, smooth chords, soaring synths and a lovely melody forming an ocean of blissful sound to immerse yourself in.
B: Halo (Danjo & Styles Remix) Danjo & Styles have given 'Halo' a tougher beat and focus more heavily on percussion, especially during the initial stages of the track. Slowly, a synth presence grows and the track takes on a more moody and progressive feeling. The long breakdown in this remix is used to introduce the main melody in a long progression of ever changing synths until a final, thick and trancey form is decided upon, whereupon the track drops and the synth takes off properly. Its a stunning instrument - it has a really open and spacey sound enriched with tranciness and it floods the track with an awesome sound. The emphasis is taken off the melody slightly, making the track one that just flows onwards instead of relying on distinctly changing sections.
Conclusion:
Two quality mixes of 'Halo' which sees two of trance's top artists battling it out. The Original Mix is a more melodic trip with an entire armada of synths whilst Danjo & Styles Remix floods your senses with one big sound and flows right on through.
