Finally the new track from Clokx is released. Read on to find out about this cracking track...
Its been a while since the last release from Clokx with 'Overdrive'. That was a fine piece of trance as was its predecessor and Clokx' debut 'Clocks'. This time round the style remains similar but it has been tweaked and has evolved. Lets see whats makes this one another winner...
:: Clokx - Feelings :: Liquid Recordings :: LQ050
A: Feelings (Dub Mix) Liquid's 50th release had to be something special and hard hitting, so thats how things kick off here. We observe a small teaser at the start - just a run of percussion with hardly any bass but then the track roars into life. A techno style off beat hi-hat really hits home and an incredibly powerful bassline erupts and continuously rumbles, creating instant drive. Its all about the build up here. Synths begin to make an appearance - putting in a few well placed long and sustained stabs of an enriched and trancey sound. The dark and driving edge is enhanced with a tense and moody sensation. The breakdown brings on even more change as the lead instrument - similar to the one that was used in 'Overdrive' - takes control and lays down the main melody. Quite a unique sound here - very piercing and distorted yet it retains a melodic and trancey feeling also. The rest of the track comes in a further 3 parts - a long build up featuring an insane snare build which actually is almost a 'main' section quite cleverly transformed, the final and most powerful section and finally the wind down, although its hard to wind down something quite as powerful and energetic as this!!
AA: Feelings (Extended Mix) The Extended Mix of 'Feelings' carries a much different sound to the Dub Mix. Although the main percussion is almost unchanged, the bass used to carry the track along is lighter and rolling - much like the previous Clokx tracks. This similarity stretches further as the main synth is used to abruptly stab out a rhythmic melody. This track also follows a much simpler ideology too. Once its built up, it showcases the stabbing synth, then it showcases the main melody (using the same excellent piercing, distorted sound as before) and then finally it combines the two in one grand display. A great tune, classic Clokx style.
Conclusion:
Its been a long wait for this latest release from Clokx but its safe to say its been worth it. Its nice the way the Dub Mix is a new take on the established style - harder and darker - and that the Extended Mix keeps things close to the classic Clokx sound - lighter and trancier. Quality on both sides of the vinyl.
