Berlin's Love Parade was cancelled in 2004 and the same goes for 2005. Read On for Why it was cancelled!
Berlin's Love Parade, which was originally a small little gathering in 1989 by certain deejays that eventually roared into the mega huge success that it was, has hit tough times. The Love Parade used to be a one day event, with every big name deejays wanting to play and then the famous deejays on stage for the masses of people there with crowds in the millions dancing in the streets. Paul van Dyk, Dr. Motte and Westbam were always there playing to the huge crowds at night, among other deejays.
It got hit hard when the German Authorities took away their tax status, so it cost them to clean up among other costs and eventually it cost too much to put on, so the parade was cancelled in 2004. Well the same has happened for 2005, Sponsors have pulled out, forcing the Parade to be cancelled again. The hope is that since Germany is hosting the World Cup in 06, that they can find the Sponsors and put on another Love Parade and have dialogue with the Authorities to keep this running for years to come.
