Dutch DJ Joop returns with two slamming tracks, this time co-produced by Benno de Goeij from the famous Rank 1 duo. Does this live up to the expectations? Read on!
Joop's previous two tracks 'Act Of God' and 'Sonsuz' were both received very well by a wagonload of highly acclaimed jocks. They weren't your usual trance, but slighly harder edged with some huge climaxes and tight melodies. While the first two were co-produced by Martijn Cornelissen and Marcel Kaper (whom we also know as Orange and The Rush, plus they made the Sensation 2004 Anthem), this third vinyl carrying Joop's name has been made in collaboration with Benno from Rank 1. Already being played by Tiësto for months, let's see what we're dealing with here!
A-side: The World It is immediately hearable that we're dealing with a somewhat harder track here. A tight, harsh sounding percussion rumbles through the sound spectrum at first sight, building and building itself up until an original, deep and dark sounding bassline starts doing its thing. Evolving into a fuller experience more and more, a nifty introductory melody starts playing, enhancing the already hardtrancy atmosphere that has been created so far. Eerie synths and the devastating combination of the percussion and bassline work out in a neat way, leading you to the breakdown step by step. Soft string sounds and a more elaborate version of the build-melody start to surface, slowly fading away to make place for a simple, yet stunningly effective melody! The great thing here is that there's no full melodic build-out, but just plain banging right at the beginning of the climax. This is one of them tracks that just blows up a dancefloor completely: the badass beats and obscure bassline make this the perfect record to throw in when you just want that extra bit of hype on your dear floor! Rating: 8/10
B-side: Another World Time for numero dos! No muted percs here at the beginning, but just a full kickdrum and some, again techy sounding, percussion. The build is rather agressive: a fast and repeating, almost creepy sounding melody bangs onwards, being backed by a phat array of basses and some tight FX. Because of the somewhat faster bassline, this track generates just a little bit of extra drive compared to 'The World'. With the slight melody playing on and on for quite a while, multiple amplifying sounds get injected inside the track to induce extra fullness to appear. The break starts rather suddenly, but luckily knows how to keep your attention by immediately bringing an uplifting sounding set of synths, playing this slightly catchy melody. Building itself up, down, and back up again, you just don't know what to expect here... Will it return during the climax or not? Lifting tension to the maximum level using loads of filtering effects, this one just literally bursts out in an utterly vigorous way during the climax! The melody almost completely disappears and makes place for just the bassline and percussion. While I found 'The World' already banging, this is even better: the climax works out in an amazing way, resulting in a peaktime floordestroyer! Rating: 8,5/10
Conclusion:
Both tracks are bombs. Period. Exclamation mark. If you want two tracks to guarantee yourself a wild crowd, go get this vinyl now. And if you don't DJ, just get this to play out loud on your system. You won't be disappointed!
