From running his own label to the busy Ibiza season, Ian Betts surely has a lot to do this summer, find out what inside
Apologies for a slightly later monthly update than usual, but here's a brief roundup of what's going on in Ian's world right now....
Ian has just returned back from a very successful tour of Australia, where he played at sell out events around the country. Having been over two years since he last played down under, Ian's sets were greeted with a great deal of media interest and an overwhelming crowd response. There are already plans underway to make Ian's trips more regular and to include extra Australian and New Zealand dates into the tour schedule - keep an ear out for more details later in the year!
Ian will be making his main room debut at London's biggest, longest running and most famous weekly club night, the legendary Gallery at Turnmills, on Friday July 22nd. Ian will be finishing off a night that includes Radio 1's Fergie on the line-up - full details will follow soon....
Ian's latest promotional mix has been added to the website - you can hear the mix by clicking on www.ianbetts.com/downloads.html and selecting the 'May 05' link.
The line-ups for this year's Cream Ibiza residency at Amnesia have been officially announced. Ian will be representing HeatUK in the main room at the Goodgreef/M8 night alongside Adam Sheridan, Marco V and Eddie Halliwell on June 30th. Chart toppers the Shapeshifters will be in residence on the terrace alongside Starf*cker's Marcus Wallis and Graeme Lloyd. HeatUK will again be running a trip to the White Isle to coincide with the night - go to www.heatuk.com for more information.
The line-ups for this year's mighty 'South West Four' festival on London's Clapham Common have also been announced. The event will be taking place on Saturday August 27th and Ian will be found playing in the HeatUK tent alongside Tall Paul, John 00 Fleming, Rob Tissera and John Askew. The event will once again be headlined by Sasha with extra special appearances by John Digweed and Carl Cox on the main stage, and a recreation of the legendary Space Terrace featuring Steve Lawler and Danny Rampling. 4000 tickets for the event have already been sold in just one week so grab them while you can - for more information go to www.heatuk.com.
Ian is set to become the first and only DJ to appear at both days of the world famous Dance Valley festival in Holland which this year is taking place over the first weekend of August! He will be playing both days in the Eurogrooves tent amongst a line-up that includes the biggest names from all corners of the dance music world. Tickets for the event have already sold out, but HeatUK have a limited number of places still available as part of their travel package which includes entry to the event and all travel - for more information please go to www.radicalescapes.com or www.dancevalley.nl.
Ian's latest track, a collaboration with London trance DJ Ollie Leighs called 'Shimmer', has been creating quite a stir on limited promo. Armin Van Buuren played the Original Mix on his highly influential 'A State Of Trance' radio show the other week, and having been handed a copy at a gig at Turnmills he has subsequently been playing the tune out as part of his recent sets. Godskitchen resident Jon O'Bir played the Inertia Dark Mix on his new Radio 1 show - having contacted Ian to tell him how much he loved the track, Jon slipped it into his first show as part of the new dance music schedule on the station. Future hero Guffy also included the Inertia Mix as part of his recent Mixmag show on Ministry Of Sound radio.
six:thirtyrecords have just agreed a deal to license Ian's track with Matt Williams 'Koinomia' to Ministry Of Sound's next Euphoria compilation. The track will appear on Lee Haslam's mix on the Tidy Euphoria CD which is due out on the 13th June. The track has also been finding favour with Gallery resident and all-round future hero Gavyn Mytchell who has been playing the track on his Ministry of Sound show.
This months IDJ Magazine features reviews of Ian's first two tracks on six:thirtyrecords. Tom Harding called 'Koinomia' "big, bold and bounding, romping trance how it should be done and a superb first release" whilst Danny Slade wrote that 'Shimmer' was "uplifting and euphoric with a discernable sound that should be well received by trance purists and clubbers alike". This months M8 Magazine also features a review of 'Koinomia' giving the track M7/M8.
For more information and audio clips of the tracks, go to www.sixthirtyrecords.com.
