This young Dutch DJ returns with a full-on trancer on one of Be Yourself Music's sublabels. With the original and a dub being served on the vinyl, let's find out what's it like!
Having made his way to the top of the dancescene by spinning on various large events and being the resident DJ of the Dutch Matrixx superclub, it seems like Jochen is definitely becoming one of Holland's most promising DJ's. His previous single 'Vanity' was co-produced by the guys from the CreamTeam, as well as the Silent Electra project with which 'For This Moment' was brought out on Dedicated a few months ago. This time around Jochen has teamed up with Boy Lamoen, with whom he has also created 'Resonator' under the Modena guise.
A-side: Original Mix While 'Vanity' leaned more towards techtrance, you will notice that this one builds itself out facing a somewhat different direction. A tight blend of driving percussion and a fruity bassline are the main ingredients during the build, backed by multiple eerie and tensionbuilding FX. Right at the part where the bassline starts to alter a bit, this rather original sound enters the track, letting you know why exactly this track is called 'India' because an Asian sounding sample plays one of the highly infectious melodies during the break. Some serious riffage is being catapulted right at the end of the calm part, building and enhancing itself to the maximum level to ensure the right hands-in-the-air-factor. The bassline works out very well here too, almost making you feel hungry for more low frequencies... and that's exactly what we get on side B! Rating: 8/10
B-side: Miller Dub It's immediately noticeable that this Dub takes on a darker approach. Some of the elements have been kept the same, but the overall mood during the build is a lot more mysterious. The thing that totally makes this mix is the rightfully a-ma-zing bassline. A deep, vengeful and immensely powerful array of bassy festivities injects itself throughout the build of the track, guided on by spooky effects and some magnificent chord changes. This is just one of them lines that makes a crowd go nuts any time, even during the build-up. Near the breakdown, the Asian sound thingie returns but is now being backed by a few relaxing string sounds. Of course the main melody part is here as well again, but the cool thing is that it does not return in the climax. The devastating bassline takes over the lead again, led onwards by small hints to the Indian sample. This will create massive mayhem everywhere! Rating: 9/10
Conclusion:
The Original is a nice piece of energetic trance. The inventive sample use in the break and the tight melody make this a very nice tune, but the real stomping is located on side B. The Dub contains one of the best basslines I've heard this year, being a fantastic, all-destroying masterpiece. It combines the melodic elements from the original with the classy dark approach from the build, resulting in a great track. Don't hesitate, get this now!
