Ron van den Beuken has been very busy lately as yet another one of his productions goes to show. Out on Liquid, it has received praise from Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Marco V, Above & Beyond and Blank & Jones...
:: Ron van den Beuken - Sunset :: Liquid Recordings :: LQ051
A: Sunset (Ron van den Beuken Remix) This track really has motion! The bassline has a very active and lively feel to it, the punchy kicks snap at your ears while a smooth, heavily reverbed bed of synth pads even the range of sounds out nicely. One notable thing here is that the backing percussion and rhythm of 'Sunset' borrows a lot from RvdB's Clokx guise as similar sounds can be heard in the rather quality 'Feelings' (reviewed here). The track is topped off by the implementation of a powerful and trancey melody which flows well and blends perfectly with the bassline, creating some strong sounds and generating a lot of emotion.
AA: Sunset (Original Mix) The Original Mix of 'Sunset' is of the same structure as the remix, but with a lot of style and instrument changes. The kick is much softer and the bassline is much milder. This gives the track quite a progressive feel overall, especially when the long backing synths start to flow. The same melody is used here and is played by a very similar sounding synth. There isn't as much reverb used and a lot of the elements of the production do tend towards a more progressive sound and style.
Conclusion:
Another top production by Ron van den Beuken! The remix steals the show here with its big sounds, driving strength and warm, trancey melodies. Out now!
