The latest outing on Drizzly’s Illuminate label is here, being a tight trancer that comes in two different mixes. Want to know what it’s like? Then don’t hesitate and click in…

Stephan Büttner and Dennis Schimonik have joined forces once again to bring us a track under their Climax 69 guise. The last production that was released under this alias is a remix for Sumatra’s ‘Reincarnation’, which was leaning a bit towards the harder side of trance. Earlier singles under the moniker include 'Fly With Me', 'Ambiance' and 'First Contact'.
Stephan is also known as DJ D-Light and participates in the Photon Decay and Base Jumper projects, with which some cool tracks like ‘Massanfertigung’, ‘Red Shift’ and ‘The Day After’ have been released, respectively.

A-side: NYC Mix
The vibe during the first portion of this track is very laidback and friendly. Steadily beeping tiny melodies and various summer-like rhythms are being brought forward using multiple layers of cool synths, but the neatest thing here is the high melody that comes in every now and then, playing just a few teasing chords. This results in the overall atmosphere to become nice and warm, and even a bit emotional from time to time. This feeling is being accelerated even more when the high bell-like melody builds itself out completely during the breakdown, inducing a very smooth and intrigueing feel to be created. While everything isn’t too complicated, it does work out very nicely until now because of the high palm-tree factor. The coolest surprise in the break is that the high melody just serves as an intro for a full riff, ready to blow a dancefloor to pieces with the amount of power that has been put in it. A very relaxing, yet energetic trancer!
Rating: 7,5/10

B-side: Base Jumper Remix
This one has a slightly harder edge to it than the mix on side A. The bassline rolls along in a somewhat darker way, and the overall drive that is being created by the percussion differs significantly from the NYC Mix. Base Jumper’s ‘The Day After’ (the most recent single release under that guise) could be categorized as hardtrance, but this lies just in the middle of a ‘normal’ trancer and the harder stuff. While the build has been kept relatively simple, it does work out in a nice way by bringing in different melodies bit by bit, brought forward using crafty minibreaks and a bunch of accompanying instruments to complete the package. The breakdown starts off repeating a portion of the chords from the build, but is this time backed by some lush strings and a good amount of energy. Time to hit the gas pedal! The full climax brings about a cool and fast atmosphere, but misses something when looking at backing melodies etcetera. For instance, the cool bell-like intro melody has been completely kept out of this mix, making it sound a bit ‘empty’ from time to time. Luckily, the powerful riff has been kept completely, resulting in a decent B-side.
Rating: 6,5/10

Conclusion:
The NYC Mix is the stronger side of this vinyl. The overall warm feel and the smooth melodies make this a more than decent trancer, ready to rock some floors during the summer. The Base Jumper remix is quite okay, but doesn’t really add much to the A-side apart from the harder interpretation. All in all a nice vinyl, don’t forget to check out the NYC mix when you like a bit of soothing trance!
