Jeff Bennett is set for release number nine for his own Kung Fu Dub Recordings Imprint and he brings Kriece and Earth Dueley for the other mixes.
Jeff Bennett - Circles (Kung Fu Dub Recordings)
Jeff Bennett seems to be everywhere these days, on the heels of his EP that was just released, and it made the Balance Promote Top 40 and his own label continues to release more things, its safe to assume that Mr.Bennett is very busy these days. His 8th release on his own label called Kung Fu Dub Recordings was entitled “A Valley To Cross” and it was released at the end of May and it was a digital only release. Actually all his releases on his label are digital and it proves how far that the industry has come because now record labels don’t have to physically put out CDs and Vinyl, they can just sell mp3’s via the myriad of download sites.
Jeff Bennett takes the original mix for release number nine and then brings in Aussie DJ/Producer Kriece aka Peter Elliott (Eukahouse, EQ Grey and Beatcode), who has been a fixture on Perth’s club circuit for sometime now for the flipside mix. Then for the third track on this release, he brings in Earth Dueley (yes his real name) (Low Pressings, Hooj and Suspect Package).

A1.Jeff Bennett Mix B1.Kriece Remix B2.Earth Dueley Mix
Jeff Bennett Mix
Jeff Bennett brings us chugging tech house for our listening pleasure for the first track. It has so much subtleness and it leans more toward the progressive side of tech house but as long as it grooves, I have no problem with it and believe me, this really grooves. The best part is the sound effects that Mr.Bennett uses in the background and they really complement the track. It also seems to have a nasty edge at times, near the midway point of the track and that always gets top marks in my book. If you are looking for nasty tech house, you won’t find it here but progressive tech house, you will and this is a solid start to the package.
Kriece Remix
Kriece is one of my new favorite artists because his stuff seems to always contain some filthy sound effect abuse and that’s always a good sign. Kriece uses the same bassline to start but the line that comes in about a minute into it, is much, much heavier. This is even more slow moving than the original but the funkiness is just in your face. This is certainly a track to get you off your ass at the bar and back onto the dancefloor. This goes in an even more progressive direction than Bennett’s original mix and I love it. Watch it folks, Kriece will certainly be one to watch for in the next while and remember Andy P told you that.
Earth Dueley Mix
This package ends off with probably the greatest name in dance music today and I believe its his real name (Earth Dueley). He uses a melody that reminds me of Little Nemo that was originally on Nintendo in the early Nineties. I don’t know how music makes my mind jump to such places but I always loved that game but then again I digressing again. Anyway, this mix uses sound effects in an even more in your face manner and this is funkier than the first two mixes. It is the shortest mix, so it might cause problems for deejays but its certainly no slouch either. I like how Dueley painstakingly pushes the sound effects in the background. Solid mix
Conclusion:
I like all the mixes and Jeff Bennett keeps pushing Tech house to the masses and if you like your tech house with that progressive edge then this is for you. If you don’t like it, then try Mr.C or others in the tech house mafia from the UK. Solid mixes from the crazy Swede aka Mr.Pung. This is certainly worth a look and you can find it at all the download sites listed in the links
