A brand new trance compilation with a twist from fledgling Finnish label, Finity Recordings...
Finity Recordings is a new label based in Finland. Its initial release is a two disc album of unmixed trance called Finity Essence. Every track has been produced by Finnish artists, from both established producers and up and coming rising trance stars.
:: Finity Essence :: FTYCD001 :: Finity Recordings
CD1 - Progressive 1) Aneroidit - The Time Is Here 2) Corydalics & Adaro - Occlusio 3) Tearrain - Seatide 4) Winkee - Whisper 5) Allende - Retrograde 6) Aava - Sid 7) Sundawner - Sorrow (Dub) 8) Fluid In Motion - Soul Dimension 9) Kuisma & Rush - Yogatech
The first CD eases you gently into the music with some really laid back progressive trance. "The Time Is Here" and "Occlusio" both feature smooth, deep and easy basslines, moving from gentle, melodic pads through to a relaxing guitar-led melody. Moving on, "Seatide" gives us a hint of electro and more embodied ambience. Next we move through the chunky beats of "Whisper" and the nimble, dancing synths of "Retrograde", adding excellence in variety to this ever-evolving progression. This disc gets subtly more upbeat (as far as progressive goes) as it moves through each track. Most tracks adhere to the style of melodic ambience later on, so things in general are kept at a smooth and calming level. Nearing the end of CD1, nice tracks like Fluid In Motion's "Soul Dimension" and Kuisma & Rush's "Yogatech" are much nearer to the uplifting trance territory, thus preparing you for whats to come on CD2...
CD2 - Uplifting 1) Avanto - The Fute 2) Mikka & Jussi - Reginella 3) ALT+F4 - ALT+F4 4) Peaktwins - Hypnowaves 5) Super8 Vs. DJ Tab - First Aid 6) Faraway Project - Radiate (Faraway January Remake) 7) Deepwide - Canyon 8) Kaste - Desert Eagle 9) Sundawner - Obsession
The second CD, Uplifting, starts with Avanto's "The Flute", kicking things off with good solid beats, lively, gritty bass and a distinct and infectious acidline - a distinct change and contrast in rhythm and pace from CD1, adding extra definition to the change in styles. On this disc, we're hearing quite a few very recognisable tracks from both big names and promising new artists. Generally, the music here is raised up and kept at a fairly steady level - quite energetic, melody drenched, active bass and strong chord changes with a good sprinkling of epic, trancey breakdowns. Highlights of CD2 include "ALT+F4", "First Aid", "Canyon", "Desert Eagle" and "Obsession".
Conclusion:
This is a really nice double CD album, filled with a selection of excellent trance from both the progressive and uplifting sides of the genre. We see a lot of tracks with signings to labels such as Anjunabeats and Monster and we can also see an indication of the (large!) amount of quality trance that Finland and its artists, both established and fresh on the scene, are actually offering the world right now. Its a great showcase for Finity, especially as their first release, so I\'ll be watching for more from them in the future. In the meantime, this album comes highly recommended!
