TCR's latest signing comes all the way from the land down under and this record has been called a real break thru by the music press, well is a real breakthru?
Dopamine – Hold You/Zoit (TCR)
TCR return after the incredibly massive JDS album, entitled “Adventures of The Purple Funky Monkey”, which has set the bar so high for Breakbeat albums and it was an incredible kick in the pants for the breakbeat massive. So to further prove that music has gone truly global and for another kick in the pants, they are going to release their latest signing from the land called Australia and his name is Dopamine. It is fitting that someone would use name that defines the chemical that produces pleasure in the brain. So without further ado, it’s the latest TCR review
1.Hold You 2.Zoit
Hold You
It starts with drumbeats and then it kicks in with some booming beats. The song really starts this nasty drive coupled with that grimy nasty “rock your bassbin bassline” and the beats just drive this track. The vocal is cut up singing “I want to hold you”, it is just plain mean and it rocks the casbah. This is a real kick in the arse to the breakbeat community because this Australian is going back to the real grimy bassline and the real ethos of breakbeats. The track is just plain addictive and you want to play it again and again and it just continues making you get up and dance. I argue that going back to the roots of things is always a good thing and it is also refreshing to see and hear new ideas. This one is destined to rock dancefloors, the world over and it will.
Zoit
If you thought Hold You was a kick in the arse, you never expected that Zoit would hold an even harsher kick in the arse for the breakbeat community. This is almost as massive as Hold You, starting with a darker style jump up breaks and some deep voice black guy saying words like “Follow” and “Uh”. Its not real deep in terms of lyrical content but the backing breakbeat had to have been removed from a box somewhere to crash some bassbins. About two minutes in, the real addictive riff joins in and this takes you to another level. Now I’m not saying this is that good because this is TCR, you could have given me the white label version and I’d have stated this is going to be huge. This continues in a grimy mode for the rest of the time but its just plain addictive
Conclusion:
Hold You is the better of the two and watch out for Dopamine, he’s going to make some huge noise with this record and he’ll probably be big if he keeps pushing things like this. Incredibly massive with an even more massive kick in the arse for the breakbeat lovers. Get this one
