i:Vibes chilled with the outstanding trio coming out of Israel.
Oren: Which of your productions are you proud of most, and why is this so?
A: Its probablly our "Amen" - The first tune we did as a full vocal song with a very nice guitar that reminds us the summer & ibiza vibe we were influenced by for years. It turned out to be at the end our biggest track ever & an anthem in miami , ibiza & worldwide.
Were proud of it as it got our reputation bigger than it was , as opened to us new doors & directions in the music industry.
Oren: Where do you find the inspiration to write your tracks?
A: While travelling in the world throuhout gigs , listening to all kinds of global music & meeting lots of interesting people - you get influenced by lots of things. So our music got to be more varied , with influences of new directions inside our current sound , such as punk rock guitars , live drumming , lots of vocals , 80's influence , electro ..
It's all there in our stuff so we try to make a fresh sound, go forward & develope our sound +actual dance music.
Oren: You’ve been DJing for years, last year you entered in the first 100 of DJ MAG list, what do you have to say about it?
A: Were glad to see ppl today really apreciate what we do , into our music we play & produce - it felt really good getting this top 100 spot. From what we know ppl been voting for us worldwide, from the middle east , to europe , asia , usa & North america..
Also in Israel our country we had big party for this in Jerusalem & had lots of respect , as were the first Israeli ever djs to be voted on there ..
Oren: You’ve experienced in many gigs, which is the best club you ever played in Israel? and in the whole world? And why is this so?
A:Haoman 17 club in jerusalem is the best club we played in israel - been there playing few times already and everytime it has electrifiying atmosphere with great crowd & big stage we do the live act on.
The best club in the world we played might be the awesome PEACH club in camden palace - london uk .
Absolutelly briliant sound , with main floor that has big stage & up for it clubbers - all in one big palace that totally rocks .. Today unfortunatelly it isnt working anymore but cannot forget it.
Oren: If you could choose the location for a future gig, where in the world would it be? Is there any place in the world that arouses your curiosity in general?
A: Yes - we would love to play in Japan . Any person who got to be there said its amazing , with the most updated technology & local ppl's knowledge on dance music is very high . It looks like a really
interesting place to visit , play & travell .
Oren: Ever thought of having your own label running?
A: Yes, but we didnt manage to do it eventually as we deal with lots of stuff the same time .
Actually were like one big part of the local label 'agnosia' records owned by our manager & israel's pioneer dj choopie , which already runs the label for about 10 years. We work together since 97 on the label as artists he manages , as all our albums & first trax were released on the label.
Today we work closelly together , only dont release actual singles + vinyls , we usually sign them to worldwide labels & compilations. so were kinds cooporate in a label of ours in a way..
Oren: A question for Shmuel, what is the story behind the classic 'Spanish Tale' produced together with Guy Baranes.
A: It was made already over 3 years ago in summer 2002 , with production partner guy baranes from Tel aviv. It was tribal proggy house tip time , when it was more fresh those days & myself + Guy were really into this sound . So we decided to do a track in this style , and added a spanish sexy vocal that was actually a sample of a sexy female vocalist we used . We made another tune just before this one , and at the end we signed them both to Deep dish who released it as my first single on yoshitoshi..
Oren: What are your favorite tunes at the moment?
A: Theres a massive new track we got from our good dj/producer friend from canada DLG called "Dimension" forthcoming on his new 'hugh' label under Eyezcream records.
Also , weve got our own big tune (follow up to "amen") called "Faith in love" which features the full vocal by Tiff lacey from the uk , who previouslly sang with paul oakenfold & ATB. Its signed now to Darren tate's uk top label 'mondo' records & Got exclusive radio support by judge jules on bbc radio 1..
Also , a new tune by Shmuel flash & new promosing producer Hugh A with their great "Its gonna be alright" thats gonna do damage soon on the floors..
Oren: Each day we learn something new. What did you learn today?
A: If u give more time from yourself to other person , this way ull feel much better as him , and u may get it reversed back to u few times more..
Oren: What kind of tips do you have for all the amateur producers out there?
A: Try to be original, not copying others with the same trax or specific sound. You have to get your own unique thing that will make others interested in what you do . Also if you're producing it will help a lot more as it may be the thing that will expose you first if you get support for your music with releases etc. You also have to be in the right place at the right time , while think of passing your music to the right person as key dj or a label you are sure of that might like your sound..
Oren: There is a DJ, there are due who play together, how is it like to DJ with six hands, how is it different?
A: Well its great - were playing this way already years now ,especially our trio live act / mixing show. From the very begining we were Playing we wanted to do our trio live on stage show ,
this way and present our music . so we like to do something different when were playing , just than regular dj in his booth with records or cds.
Oren: Anything else that you would like to add?
A: Yes - keep support dance music worldwide , by going out to parties , listening to it & spread it everywhere. Thanx to everyone who support us & will be happy if ull keep on doing that..
