Continuing in its current vein of tough and techy sounds, the RR imprint presents a new production from Pascal Feliz...
:: Pascal Feliz - Ignition :: RR :: RR028
A: Ignition (Original Mix) This tracks essence is techy to the core. The initial percussion in the intro is made up of quite metallic sounds and has a very mechanical type of rhythm. This only serves as an intro though, and the main body of the track is introduced with a sudden switch to deep, constant bass and powerful thwacking kicks. There is, however, still a tinny, mechanical sound buried deep within the track and its this that gives the track a lot of its techy edge. There is a melodic element here too. A strong and coarse synth pushes out a simple rising arpeggiated melody. A lot of work has gone in to creating a huge sense of build up and the synth does get nicely beefed up for when the track is ready to drop. The result is quite intense - the thick bass serves as a cushion for the beats that are being pumped out into this massive synth driven sound of a melody. Overall the result is quite an epic effect.
AA: Ignition (In-Dub) The mix on the flip of this record seems to follow the same kind of structure as the Original Mix. A percussive intro is followed by a stark switch to thick bass and tough beats. The progression of techy sfx and scratchy percussion keeps the techy flavour as the track moves on, slowly building on the synths murmuring in the background. Once the melody is fully developed, instead of pushing it on as far as the Original Mix does, the focus here is on long stabs of fierce synth in the main section. Instead of really driving you as the Original does, this hits a peak and maintains its position. While not as epic, it is quite euphoric, in a techy way.
Conclusion:
This is right in the middle of tech trance and normal trance. Tough with a melodic element, the tracks' fierce sounds still pull the right emotional strings of epicness and euphoria.
