Menno de Jong returns to Dedicated with his second production under his Sayla guise. The first, 'Second Thoughts', was a big hit so does the second benefit from the same results...?
:: Sayla - Majestic :: Dedicated :: DED017
A: Majestic (Original Mix) This track is definitely something different right off the mark. It begins with a weird mash up of percussion before diving headlong into hefty beats backed by some severely awesome off beat bass. Its really deep and dirty and sounds excellent. Menno conjures up some more trancey styled synths although they still have a dark and bassy hint to them. This is short lived though as they are transformed into powerful stabbing synths, pumping out a rhythm for the rest of the track to follow. So far, everything is quite dark and sinister, quite different to the usual Menno style. The final twist to this track is that every now and again, the dark and sinister synths give way to more relaxing and calmed synth notes. Its such an interesting transition between tough and energizing tones to smooth, soothing trancy pads. Again, produced to excellent standards and crafted to perfection, this is another winner.
AA: Majestic (Arizona Vs. Passiva Remix) Arizona and Passiva step up for remix duties this time and attempt to work their trance magic on this deep and dark track. The beats and percussion have been lightened a lot but there is still a kick-ass bassline which really drives things along. The trance magic has been worked again it seems as we're blessed with a build up of pads in the background, from which strings begins to soar high above everything else. A long breakdown is used to bring in a simple melody to play over the top of this sheer synthed string fest to give it a bit more body and feeling. The end result is a mass of sound which is truly uplifting and should get just about any trancehead in a spin. Wicked stuff!
Conclusion:
Two very strong tracks. Menno delivers something quite different and really nice on the A side whilst Arizona and Passiva really trance things up to the max on the flip.
