The latest to hit the Yakuza label is this new piece by the DJ Jurgen project with a remix by T4L...
:: DJ Jurgen - Wicked Waves :: Yakuza :: YAK005
A: Wicked Waves (Amir Barbell Edit) Almost the entire first half of this track is a long and slow build up to what it wants to deliver in its final stages. The warm up consists of your average kick and percussion with some off beat snares that add a nice bit of extra spice, plus a good, strong bassline which is key to the flowing nature of this track. The breakdown is where the melody is introduced and that really is the main focal point of the entire track. The simple melody is played over and over - and as others have already proclaimed, it captures the right amount of addictiveness whilst just avoiding that dreaded cheesey territory. The final stages of the track see the melody being played by a broader, more subtle synth and the sound this creates makes for a feeling of celebration of some kind. A nice, easy and happy track.
AA: Wicked Waves (T4L Remix) T4L are have also decided to kick a track off with penetrating beats and a really powerful, booming bassline. It makes for instant energy and a healthy thirst for something stronger in the progression. The long, slow, building format is kept here too, as we witness slow builds in synth levels as the track nears the halfway point. The pads and synths used are particularly beautiful, it has to be noted. Another long breakdown sees the onset of the main melody and also a new rhythmic stabbing synth when the track drops back in. Whilst uplifting and highly enjoyable, this extra rhythm maintains the energy enough to keep things moving until the end of the track.
Conclusion:
Simple melodies combined with strong and sturdy foundations are the order of the day here, and from that we have two uplifting and enjoyable pieces of trance.
