DJ Choose, aka Lasse Steen, goes solo for a release of 3 new tracks all on one vinyl on the F&W Records imprint...
:: DJ Choose - Knight Fever / Jitters / So What :: F & W Recordings :: FWRECV010
1) Knight Fever We start with 'Knight Fever', which instantly gives off the DJ Choose vibe. Driving rolling bass and erupting synths provide a constant platform of energetic trance. The track is centralized around the synths which continue to push out the same hook all the way through the track, albeit for a few breaks. Whilst lacking in a bit of variety, 'Knight Fever' should be able to maintain the energy on a lot of the trancefloors out there, especially deep into the night where strong synths are essential.
2) Jitters Big beefy kicks and punchy percussive elements make 'Jitters' quite noticeable. It also has that distinctive F&W influence - thick and grainy synth basses along with really strong and trancey synths which play melodies in what can only be described as F&W style once again. 'Jitters' does a good job at thrusting itself out into your ears and will easily get a crowd moving - its style just seems to entice dancing and movement. I'd imagine the name comes from the big jittery synths which make the track so pronounced. Very nice track.
3) So What The final in this trancey trio of tracks is 'So What'. It seems to have a slightly slower pace than the first two. With this, it uses semi-stabbed synth drones to raise the atmosphere and sustain it at a high level in a frenzy of stark synths (and huuuuuge (massive)) builds. Infact, the build is so long you kind of forget exactly how things were going. A masterstroke as it turns out because when it finally drops back in its really quite meaty and sounds great! After this immensely climactic period, it eventually calms a bit and plays itself out, leaving you wanting more.
Conclusion:
Three good tracks for sure. 'Knight Fever' might be a bit on the repetitive side, but 'Jitters' and 'So What' are very decent tracks. The tougher trancehead and/or F&W fans would probably show the most interest.
