The familiar sound of Mark Norman have a new release out on In Trance We Trust with two very trademark sounding tracks to have a look at.
The pair from Holland already has an already impressive catalogue behind them with releases like ‘Overkill’ and ‘Phantom Manor’, two more on here to listen two in the form of T34 and Teardrops.
T34
This track gets straight down to business with the very easy to spot, in my view Mark Norman baseline. Very soft and deep sound they seem to create in their tracks. The track starts in a tough little melody from the start with stutters and kick sounds creating a Skippy type of track with a vocal fading from the background. After the opening introduction comes a nice little break. From that point it builds and builds feeding in different sounds and slamming back into the tough baseline rhythm with all sorts of kick drums and noises adding to the subtle melody ticking along in the background. I would almost call this a bit of a funky track from Mark Norman. It’s not a epic by any means but a nice bit a tough techy trance that is easy on the ear.
Teardrops
What I think will be and most probably is, as its been around for a few months on the DJ circuit, played record of the two on offer in this release. It’s a more pacer record with a solid rhythm from start to finish. The track feeds you what will be the main hook of the track right at the beginning and then continues to progressively build on it slowly adding more to it. A break in the middle gives you the key note changes that make the main selling point of this track. Its one of those records that builds up on a string then changes it ever so slightly to make it appeal. I like this one from the Dutch boys and it’s a nice change from the other record with this release. The familiar chunky deep bass that gives Mark Norman their style is in full effect on this one.
Conclusion:
T34 is a really nice Tech style of record with teardrops being a bit more of a hard edged trance record. I think Mark Norman have done a good job here and created two very solid tracks. The ear tells me that Teardrops will be the one people will be talking most about from this release and so they should as it’s a nice piece of music. This one gets the thumbs up from me.
