The Swedish producer Rikard Fredriksson also known as Probspot has just released his debut album and truly this one will not disappoint you!

During the last couple of years Probspot has been one of the hottest progressive trance acts out there. Now the time has finally come for him to release his anticipated debut artist album entitled Organic Waveforms.

Track list:
01. Waveform
02. Drifter
03. Obsession
04. Blows My Mind (Feat. Ben Lost)
05. Midnight (Slow mix)
06. Swedish Cowboy
07. Hard or Soft
08. Digital Emotions
09. God Shaped Hole
10. Game over
11. Vibe
12. 1997

The CD starts of with a really cool laidback breakbeat track which is probably intended to be like an introduction as to whats in store and to get you in the right mood, which it surely does. Some really nice synths accompany the breakbeat and builds up an amazing atmosphere, a perfect way to kick off this album!

Next track up is the song Drifter that continues in the same euphorical way as the first tune, though with a steadier beat. This one is a real progressive slammer that, after a build up, reaches its peak when it comes to a soft but short spiritual break that I think will work nicely at the clubs. This is because when the tune kicks off again it feels more powerful and alive. As a strong fan of the TB-303 I want to give Rikard some extra credits for those acid lines that occur once in a while during the track, awesome stuff!

‘You’re always on my mind’ kicks off the next tune. After a laidback introduction of the song some fast and energetic breaks can see the light. I really like the pace in the tune and even though the breakbeats have a really high tempo the tune manages to keep a chillout atmosphere which so far has excelled in this album.

The fourth song is entitled ‘Blows my Mind’ and on this one Rikard decided to work together with no one else other than the English singer Ben Lost who I mainly think of from the song ‘Jump The Next Train’ by The Young Parisians, a tune that Rikard actually remixed. After a two minute long build up the vocals really kick in and you can hear straight away that it’s Ben behind the mic. The tune itself has a nice atmosphere with some nice strings and other synth elements but I’m not very fond of the vocals. I’ve never been the biggest fan of male vocals and it doesn’t really make it any better that Ben is the one behind the mic as I’ve never been a fan of his special voice that you probably either love or hate. Although I have to give a big plus for the break about 4:50 into the tune when a really cool bass accompanied with some uneven beats and Ben’s vocals occurs for a while, brilliant!

The slow version of the tune Midnight is the next track up and this one is a solid, chilled-out ambient kind of production. The tune starts off with some mellow strings and a couple of other synth based elements. Some nice uneven beats accompany the previous mentioned things after a while and as the song passes by more wicked elements are added - such as a something that reminds me a bit of a melancholic sounding electric guitar which occurs once in a while and I can also hear hints of some acid lines that I appreciate a lot. A nice track to follow up the previous song with.

Swedish Cowboy is the name of the sixth track of this album, maybe something that Rikard see himself as? The tune starts off with a real “wild western” sample that you later on can hear from time to time throughout the whole track. It is followed up by some nice rhythms and wicked effects. A beat is later introduced and as time goes by more outstanding stuff is added like a really pumping bassline. The tune as a whole has a neat rhythm to it that I really like, great job.

“Do you like it hard? Do you like it fast? Or do you like it slow and soft?” Some really sensual vocals start off the seventh tune on the album. After a pretty chillout introduction the song explodes to a full blooded breakbeat tune with a really nice kind of aggressive and dark feeling to it. In the middle of the song there is a break with some chillout strings and a hint for some more melodic stuff. Instead of reaching a peak with the melody it implodes and goes back to the way it was before the break. Not the best tune of the album but still a nice dark track with a cool flow to it.

Next track up is the song “Digital Emotions” which is one of the more melodic tunes on the album. After the previous dark track “Hard or Soft” this one is perfect to break the pattern. The tune is a great laidback song that has an awesome part in the middle of it with some uneven beats accompanying the main melody which is very melancholic until a steady beat kicks in, simply a neat track.

The ninth tune on this album is the breakbeat track “God Shaped Hole” with vocals from a man named “Craig Evans”. To describe this tune with one word I must say; AWESOME! The track gives me goosebomps and I can easily say that this is one of the best songs I’ve heard in 2005! As I’ve mentioned earlier in the review of the album I’m not really a fan of male vocals but with vocals like this I have to take it back! After a start containing some smooth strings the breakbeats are introduced with the words “God Shaped Hole” which gives the tune a really cool atmosphere with a neat pace. As time goes by the vocals really kick in and takes the tune to another level. This one is definitely my favourite song on the album so far, 12 out of 10.

Next up is the track “Game Over” which has a really hard task in trying to compete with the previous track and I can’t say that they play in the same division. This track goes in with the albums theme in being very chilled out and surely it’s a nice little tune that can be nice to relax to but not much more than that I’m afraid. As I’ve said earlier, being the follow up track to “God Shaped Hole” isn’t a fair assignment.

The CD is slowly coming towards its end as the eleventh tune starts to spin. This tune entitled “Vibe”, has an awesome euphorical atmosphere to it that just makes you forget about everything else for a while. Solid progressive trance production and some extra credit to Rikard for the song title that we at i:Vibes really dig.

The last tune on this truly great album is “1997” which was a very important year for Rikard with loads of good as well as bad things happening. I must say that this is one of my favourite tracks on this album as it has an awesome spiritual feeling to it and some banging acid lines which I simply love. The strings that start in the middle of the song are simply amazing and almost take my breath away. A perfect way to wrap up a really wonderful album!

Conclusion:
To get straight to the point, this album is simply amazing and it is definitely a must for every electronic dance music fan out there. Truly this one will not disappoint you with its spiritual soundings. Tracks like “God Shaped Hole”, “1997” and “Drifter” really takes the album to a higher level and I must say that before this album I wasn’t so keen on the act Probspot but with this album he surely has showed his talent! I have to congratulate Mr Fredriksson for creating a masterpiece like this and I can’t do anything else than give a high rating.

A very strong 9/10 is what I give this album as well as the words; buy this one – now!
