Two different things, two terrific years. EQ Grey, having put out Gavin Keitel's most excellent "Electric" mix CD, and Chris Fortier's highly acclaimed "Balance 007", has taken on the soon to be infamous Desyn Masiello, the rising star who mixed Yoshitoshi's third installment of "In House We Trust", and more recently, Bedrock's Original Series.
In a year that has been far frock lackluster in terms of good mix-CD releases, yet another one has managed to make it into the spotlight: Desyn Masiello behind the decks yet again, this time working for one of the most consistantly quality series over the past few years; EQ Grey's "Balance". Previous installments in the series saw legends like Bill Hamel, James Holden, Anthony Pappa, and Phil K.
The choice of DJ's so far in the Balance series has been nothing short of superb; and their latest choice certainly falls into that category. One look at the tracklist shows that Desyn refuses to be pinned down by any one style; rather, he just plays what will fit the moment. This trait makes him a perfect addition to the "Balance" series, due to its fluid, everchanging nature. That's the best thing about it; it's not Trance, it's not House, it's not Breaks. It's damn fine EDM. Keep an eye out for this CD, it'll be a proud addition to any collection.
