In a bold move, Sander van Doorn steps up once again onto Oxygen Recordings to provide a brand new remix of TDR's 'Squelch' from back in the year 2000...!
:: TDR - Squelch :: Oxygen Recordings :: OX008
1) Squelch (Sander van Doorn Remix) Sander 'The Man' van Doorn is back once again on the now firmly established Oxygen Recordings. He kicks off his remix of 'Squelch' rather innocently. Just simple beats and percussion to get things rolling. But, as soon as you're into the first 57 seconds, theres a dab of twisted synth and the bassline is unleashed. Its round and sooo deep, it has SvD written all over it and you just know that this track is going to impress. The old elements of 'Squelch', namely its lead synth, is very well preserved as SvD has only tweaked it as opposed to bringing something totally new. It has a sharper, more daunting feel and sound to it - almost sinister. It gives the track a load of atmosphere and drives things along with the bass awesomely. The rest of the track is helped along by Sander's incredible grasp on percussion and sfx. The track is filled full of excellent percussive medleys and awesome build ups and releases. Its just wild when the track drops after the main breakdown - the synth stabbing into the air and the bass just rumbling with sheer power behind it. Its a force to be reckoned with and will do endless damage to the floors. Awesome, awesome tune!
2) Squelch (Original Mix) The Original Mix of Squelch is also included in this release. reat for those who loved it and also great for those who missed out on it beforehand! Either way, everyones a winner. The Original Mix of 'Squelch', incase you were one of the ones to miss it, is housey in nature - soft bass guitars, some almost tribal percussion and loads of filtered breaks. The lead synth is brisker and isn't as deep as the new one, but its still as distinguishable. 5 years on and this still wouldn't sound out of place in a club today. A classy bit of house music!
Conclusion:
More serious impact by Sander van Doorn. The guy isn't putting a foot wrong and is consistently demonstrating his abilities in as many ways as he can. 'Squelch' was the perfect track for him to remix, and what a great remix it is! 10/10? I think so!
