While not a well-known or infamous name in the scene, Marc Marberg has definately put himself on my personal list of artists to watch with his latest dancefloor stormer, "Guarana". In a scene dominated with melodies, Marc has dared to be different, and his production talent and knowledge of how to make you move definately shines through on his latest track.
Original Mix - The Original version starts off menacing, with agressive stabs and a hard beat; nothing too distinctive, until the breakdown starts at 2:30. From there, the distinct bassline cuts in, and definitely makes its presence known. Once the main beat drops at 3:20, this track begins its non-stop frenzy of high-energy musical flow. The track is a harsh, unrelenting master, and a masterful piece of work that was definitely designed to make the crowd go nuts.
Arctic Quest Remix - As if the Original wasn't enough, the Arctic Quest remix takes everything I like about the track, and improves on it. The opening is trancier, with not as much of the underlying menace and sense of forboding as its counterpart. This one takes a little longer to get going, but sure enough, at nearly 3 minutes, the bassline begins rumbling, and with less fanfare and build-up that its predecessor, kicks in high-gear at 3:15, and finally tops out another minute later. Tunes like this don't seem to come out very often, but when they do, they tend to stay in my top 10 for quite some time.
Conclusion:
This tune is a monster; not so fast as to be undanceable, but packing enough punch to pack any dancefloor from Los Angeles to London. Definately look into this one; it's being featured on quite a few CD's this year, including Ferry Corsten's "Creamfields", not to mention support from many top jocks like Paul van Dyk, Above & Beyond, M.I.K.E., and Markus Schulz.
Available for Digital Download at Beatport, and has been released on both vinyl and CD, by Euphonic.
