The latest from trance giant ATCR's digital label, E-TCR, is a track by the Summer Sessions project simply entitled 'Blossom' which features a storming remix by Haylon. Already given the thumbs up by Ferry Corston and having found its way onto albums from The Thrillseekers and Solar Stone, I think you should check this one out now...!
:: Summer Sessions - Feat. Michelle Smith - Blossom :: E-TCR :: ETCR004CD
1) Blossom (Original Mix) The Original Mix of 'Blossom' is a tightly produced piece which has clearly defined and easy to pick out elements. The taut bass is there providing a firm foundation whilst the strings of a summery sounding guitar are plucked in the background all the time being covered by the hauntingly beautiful voice of Michelle Smith. No audible words are sung in this track, all the vocal work here is just long and smooth notes which ring out and flow around the track. This is most appreciable in the long and soothing breakdown which features just about every flavour of vocal offered within the track and also some nice melodic synthwork. When everything drops back in, some energetic trancey backing synths are included, really trancing things up and adding a new flavour to the sound. The vocals continue as the main focal element, all the time though with extra layers of subtle synth coming in and pushing out more melody. A great piece of work oozing with the flavours of summer - quality.
2) Blossom (Haylon Remix) And onto the remix by Haylon. Haylon - a project from the famed Andy 'Pulser' Perring and E-TCR boss and Rapid Eye man Tim Stark - are fresh from their current release 'Starfighter' which can be found on Surface Recordings doing very well indeed, and the pair are still on fine form. Why? Because they've worked up a total masterpiece of a remix of 'Blossom'. The track demonstrates its dominance from the start with an incredibly strong and punchy kick. Add to this some active bass, a sprinkling of vocal and some string like backing synths and you've got the core of track which you know is full to the brim with promise. You're slowly built up to the breakdown with the vocals and synths getting ever stronger. One notable thing is the way the synths seem to pulse on the off-beat, adding a kind of driving sub-rhythm. The breakdown covers all the great elements of this track - the chilled summer sounding guitar, again the awesome singing voice of Michelle Smith and some simply beautiful melodic work. All of this is built up and eases you into the next section which is pure energetic euphoric trance. This is intense. Stringed synths pour out the melody while a thicker, trancier sound fills your ears and pulses along with the kick. This remix is easily somewhere near the grounds of trance perfection. Its energy, beauty and uplifting, euphoric sounds go all the way to make this one of the big tunes of 2005.
Conclusion:
The Original Mix of 'Blossom' is great but the remix by Haylon will blow you away. It is utterly superb trance which simply must not be missed out on. Something that every respectable trance lover should have in their collection for sure. E-TCR have put themselves firmly on the map with this awesome release.
On full release soon, it should be available from BuyThatRecord.com, so go buy a copy!
