Christopher Lawrence and Nicholas Bennison team up for the latest Propulsion records release and it includes a Miika Kuisma mix on the flipside, more driving progressive trance anyone?

Christopher Lawrence & Nicholas Bennison – Scorcher (Propulsion Records)

Do these guys really need any introduction? Christopher Lawrence has been around for ages and his deejaying & producing exploits are well known. He lives in L.A, so it was only a matter of time, till he connected with Nicholas Bennison, who is also an L.A resident and he runs the much respected underground Propulsion Records label. So they get together and made a track and you expect to get driving underground trance and this is no different. They decided to grab Finland’s Miika Kuisma for remix duties, who has found a big fan in JooF, so much that Fleming signed him to his label and he just finished touring with Mr.Tiesto, not bad for someone new to the scene in some regards and to top it all off, DJ Mag’s #1 for 2005 aka Paul van Dyk is playing this track to death.

Christopher Lawrence & Nicholas Bennison – Scorcher (Propulsion Records 010)

A1-Original Mix
B1-Miika Kuisma Mix

Am I the only one who instantly shivers when CL releases a new track? The man knows what the dancefloor needs and he also knows what the average home listener wants and he somehow always gets the job done. He coupled with smart producer Bennison and they created a track with energy and JooF and PvD are already big fans of it. The track starts with an energetic beat with some jumbled sounds and then the melodic synths take over and this is only a minute in. The track does remind you of the CL/JooF sound that the dancefloor needs more of but this track is relentless in the energy and relentless in its drive. I love how this track does not let up and everytime you go up for a breath, it slams you back down. The original mix adds some really good breakbeat lines as well but then the synths take over coupled with the hypnotic melody and you are hooked. Scorcher is probably doing the damage on the dancefloor, the world over because it never lets up and it takes you along for the speeding journey.

Miika Kuisma Mix

If Miika Kuisma is good enough to be signed by the smart mind and even smarter years of John 00 Fleming, then he must be really good. Kuisma’s mix starts with some jumbled sounds and just a drumline with some evil noises in the background. When the track finally gets going, it seems that Kuisma focuses more on melody and the synths, not so much the drive. This is still a peaktime trance scorcher that should destroy some dancefloors. I like how Kuisma gives you something different from the original mix, it gives deejays two options, one is playing the relentless driving original or play the melody driven mix on the flipside. As Kuisma lets the melody go its course, you love it and I’m already reaching for the sky but sadly I’m in my basement, not in a club but put this in the hands of CL/Joof or PvD, look out.

Conclusion:
Nicholas Bennison is probably of the most underated producers/deejays out there but he is a genius with his label Propulsion recordings. He seems to always pick the right tracks and I’m still reeling from 009 – Singo – Plexi Music, which was a nasty driving progressive trance killer and shook me to my very core. CL and Bennison get the job done with a nasty piece of driving prog trance and Miika Kuisma delivers a melodic driving mix on the flipside. Get on board, this fucking rocks.
